Is Vampire Lord actually fun?
Other than the roleplay aspect of it, is Vampire Lord actually fun to play. It seems like they just throw a ton of powers and spells at you, which, because I've modded a ton of new spells into the game, the vampire stuff seems like "more of the same". Also, because Skyrim has a pretty terrible control interface, having a dozen new powers just means I spend even more time in the menu system rather than playing. Am I missing something or is this really all there is?

I personally never enjoyed the vampire play, although Werewolves are fun even in vanilla as you don't have a meaningful downside and get the nice passive of disease immunity.

I did a play through as a vamp back in Oldrim when it came out. It was worth doing at least once. Same with werewolves.

early game in vanilla? Sure. It can be strong at these levels.

Late game in vanilla? Definitely NO.
Why? It's an "un-levelled" form, so it remains the same whether your level 1 or 80.
Your "mortal" form will be considerably stronger than your Lord form at higher levels.... That's Bethesda for you :steambored:

Most who want Vampire/VLord gameplay will get mods to improve it, like Better Vampires, because Vanilla it's just.. not great.

yea like the werewolf you should install a mod that scales it.
its still really fun though. i love tossing biches around and throwing them off mountains. one of my fondest memories from this game is tossing isran to his death from the dawnguard castle balcony as a vamp lord.

It can be a fun specific playthrough, on Adept. Also it´s fun to kind of fly, and it´s a good way getting over water.

Since you are modded, these make it more fun. Look into the wing mod too on the original VLF page.

Being in VLF is nice around water too, no wet feet. It helps tweaking vampire drain with the CK or xEdit so it is not so worthless. It's pretty fun to hold and choke someone while draining their life in a few seconds. It make being in form feel more powerful.

Faux mentioned werewolf. I think my favorite is using Immersive Patrols Heavy, pile up the ground with bodies, transform and eat everyone. You'll level werewolf pretty fast lol, plus it sounds cool.

I usually only go for Werewolf or Vampire Lord if I am RP'ing a 'Bruce / Britni Banner' character...respectively.

Actually late game vampire > ww by a LOT.
The reason is that one of the restoration perks (necromage) makes "All spell more effective against undead".
Guess who's some kind of undead? The vampires =D
And guess what are enchantments on your own armor/weapons considered as? Yep, they're considered as magic.
Thus, with that perk, just by being vampire, all of your enchanted weapons/armor get waaaay stronger =D

To be clear, I'm using most of Enaisaison's mods, including his vampire one, Sacrosanct: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3928

That being said...I really hope the game gives me a way to remove the sunlight debuff. I'm fine if I'm a vampire and I just never bother with the Lord transformation because it's cumbersome, but with that debuff, I honestly think just being plain old human is more powerful, leaving aside werewolf entirely.

I prefer to leave vampire lord to the end of my play through, once all other stories are complete. You can cure yourself of lycanthropy after living with it for as long as you prefer and not touching Dawnguard quests. In between Dawnguard and curing the wolf in you, you are mortal again. And after you are done polishing up whatever you have left over in Skyrim, you could move onto the vampire lord. Finish and sweep the map with pure evil. The vampire isn't a welcomed being in Skyrim. I think it would be most fun to finish the game with that. I have never been a vampire for long enough to learn about it to much to say "yeah it's fun, or it could change the game for the better early as possible". But in my eyes, being mortal, wolf, mortal again and vampire in that order would be more fun as you ge the best of all worlds.

Its a game bug and Unofficial Patch fix it.

From wiki.
All benefits unrelated to targeting undead are due to an error in the game that misplaces a tag on all enchantments and effects, causing them to be affected by buffs to Restoration.

True, but just like the restoration loop it's a popular bug so alot of people enable it back or refuse to use the Unoffical Patch.

Yeah, unofficial patch sucks ass cuz it removes even the good bugs.
Being unable to open the dawnstar chest made me real sad :(

Meh, I disagree with the sentiment since if you want to cheat you might as well just use the console.
