Best way to play Skyrim
If if we don't do the Farengar quest to return the Dragonstone to him we can roam anywhere in skyrim without the pressure of being the Dragonborn, allowing us to create our own story at our own pace

Seriously, just knowing that you're the dragonborn from the start of the game kind of breaks the mood, like barely 1 hour into the game and you're already what you might call “the chosen one”? Give us a break and let us do some quests first and forge our character before becoming the dovahkiin lol

Personally, I already have 80 hours into the game and I still don't know that I'm the dragonborn, and I still haven't chosen my side in the civil war, let me do my thing in peace lmao :drlivesey:

I agree and I think Alternate Start mod helps in that matter a lot.
I heard someone say that a reason they prefer Morrowind to Skyrim is because in Morrowind it makes you feel like you earned you're title but in Skyrim you get it early on and for some people it doesn't feel like the player earned the title.

If you're having fun, you're playing the game correctly

Personally I like the Elgen intro but yeah this mode is very cool for RP reasons

Yeah exactly, Elgen was attacked by a dragon and shortly after warning the Jarl of Whiterun you have already defeated a dragon and discovering that you are the dragonborn, and the greybeards have already invited you to High Hrothgar

this is going too fast, I want to discover skyrim and do my own RP first xD and like you say earn my title

I never ever start the main quest in elder scrolls titles. Or take it as far as minimally possible. The game is all about exploration for me.

In Oldrim I had like 50 something RPs. Only two ever went past the quest Before the Storm; the actual Dragonborn RP and a Blades dragon hunter RP.

Without alt start mods, it's sort of like Schrodinger's Cat, but for role-playing. Is the RP in the box Dovahkiin or not? You can only tell once you open the box/further a certain main quest mission.

My character is currently around level 22 and haven't visited the Bleakfalls Barrow yet. Too busy to do thieving stuff, hunt relics for the museum etc.

You are correct: game runs too fast, giving too much too soon. I also like to take things more calm. I can't justify my character sneaking around breaking in to houses, if he would knew what power he has and what is expected of him.

Sure, I will deal with dragons. Let me just steal one jewelled flagon, pickpocket that guy in Sollitude, plant some contraband and forge the numbers of this ledger. You know, the important stuff.
- Last Dragonborn (maybe)

I guess I have to release the inner Dragonborn at some point. I think at the end of TG quest line would be good moment for character to find new purpose beyond earthly wealth and influence.

Dragons do not have pockets to pick and their undead worshippers do not care about poison arrows. This would be a good time to learn to either hit harder (Companions) or keep your distance (College of Winterhold.) Or maybe both? Yeah, both is probably good.

both is definitively good, in RP these stories are what build the character of the (futur) dragonborn, it's not enough to be born like that, it's more interesting to learn gradually powers and skills from the mages of Winterhold, and being part of the companions is like a rite of passage, TG is when you come to Skyrim and find yourself without wealth so you need money etc, it makes for a more coherent character

without forgetting that going to these places also allows you (with books and conversations) to learn more about the context of the main events in skyrim (in my view ^^)
Skyrim is the only installment in the series where one is one of the chosen few. The first two, one is just some random employee of Uriel Septim (who can be seen as the true protagonist of the series up until 4), the second of whom dies fighting Manimarco while creating the Dragonbreak. It was a break from playing second fiddle (if even that) to the Dragonborn Septim line.

the best way to play Skyrim?????
anyway you want , you dont have to do any quests at all and just explore if you want become a dungeon raider , theres several paths to take just play the way that makes you happy.
What helped me the most was I stopped thinking of Skyrim as an RPG, and instead started thinking of it as an RPG Sandbox. I found that grabbing everything, doing everything, achieving perfection in every quest made the game boring, and I honestly think that's the point. The game is built to allow you to pick and choose what you do or don't do and still have it succeed, so start picking and choosing.

Once I gave myself "character restrictions" like "no grave robbing" or "only loot bodies for coins, arrows, and gear upgrades" the game really opened up. Why would I help the Mage College when I'm not a mage? Why would I join the Companions when I have no skill in Martial classes?

Play imperfectly, stick to one class, ignore quests, purposefully fail a quest because "its what my character would do," don't loot that expensive armor because it's Elven and not good, strong Nord armor, and the game can really open up.
Generally I theme each character, and try to give them some personality which would make them never do certain things. For example some of my characters are not crafters. I think it's somewhat unrealistic that every dragonborn ends up being both the warrior and a tradesman. Sometime I restrict myself to found loot only, which makes scaling character into godlike powerful state virtually impossible and makes even difficulty like expert quite challenging and engaging for some builds.
