How to instal big mods?
I'm new player and I'm so confused. Is there option for download all reguirements from Nexus mods like a pack or something? For example I wanted a big mod for horses and "Race Menu" but these mods have sooo many "smaller" requirements mods and some of them also have another long list of requirements. Should I download all of them one by one? If so, in what order? It will take so much time and I can easily miss something. How you guys install big mods like that?

The "Requirements" dropdown at Nexus has two categories.

Category 1: "Nexus requirements". This is what the mod you're looking at NEEDS. Meaning, you need to install these if you want to have your mod working.

Category 2: "Mods requiring this file". This is telling you which mods are DEPENDENT on the mod you're looking at. You don't have to install these. They're optional. If you click on one of these mods, you will find back the initial mod you want to install in "Nexus Requirements" list there.
usually there is not an all in one but there are things called collections on nexus that have a bunch of themed mods. They may have the required to run mods as well but always better to assume they dont and manually install the required mods.

Better to take your time in the beginning than waste hours afterwards because you missed a step or file.

If all you care about is playing as soon as possible do not mod at all. Modding is time consuming. Especially to get it right. Also make sure the mod you are installing is for the right version of the game you have installed.

se and ae are different for mod purposes even though ae is just modded se. ae means your game has the ae mods installed as opposed to se being no mods at all.

OP, definitely take it one mod at a time when installing new mods, but I'm just saying that when you get your mod setup just the way you want it (or damn close, because perfection is sometimes impossible), you will have immense satisfaction that I personally feel to be greater than the enjoyment of playing the actual game

I would humbly suggest you avoid the big or complex mods until you are quite familiar with modding. No point in breaking your game unless you know what you are doing and can recover from the mess.

For horse management, try the Simple Horses SE mod or Simplest Horses SE mod.

I am personally using Convenient Horses. It has no requirements and works as advertised. I did test few other horse mods while creating the build (mod list is wide), but went back to CH.

Be aware that some mods that touch horses, may need compatibility patches to work well with CH.

That is true.

That said, my load order is pretty big. Only patch with CH I needed was for Inigo. I am using NFF for vanilla companions and their horses. Inigo can not get imported to that.
hail and well met, traveler! welcome to Skyrim.

how do we do it? same as everyone, just start. to quote Lao-Tzu, the journey of a thousand miles begins beneath one's feet. so, you know, start "walking" those mods.

as some have warned you, you'll easily break your game if you bite off more than you're ready for. which is very true. but I will take the stance that breaking things is good, if you have an analytical brain; you learn much more, gain more understanding, from your failures than if it just works on your first try. and, being that you are worried about it, about missing downloading prerequisites, about messing up... that is a good thing, not bad. means you'll pay attention to what you're doing.

yes there are two "shortcut" methods, either you buy a paid nexusmods account, and then use Collections[next.nexusmods.com] with a click, or, if you don't have the $ there's Wabbajack![www.wabbajack.org] that now has support for non-premium nexusmods downloading, but pretty sure this circumvents their ads displaying... and if they don't make money, they won't be around to host all these delicious mods for thousands of games, will they? but not here to debate morality, just sharing what's available.

also, two regulars, smr1957 and Vlad 254, have a lot of guides up in the Guides section that you should read some of, when you have time; there are plenty of other good guides too; but when you know nothing, you don't know a good answer from a crap one, or a convoluted, spaghetti way of thinking vs a complex but streamlined approach... and these two are both the kind of people who did their homework. (and your homework, and my homework, and 200 other people's homework.)

sidebar: are you truly from Saint Pierre / Miquelon? I didn't even know you guys had high-speed internet! hah. Frost Trolls, now that I'd believe! :heart_eyes_yeti: you can certainly meet people from all parts of the world on steam discussions, that's for sure!

Yeah, I have a feeling the OP is seeing the “Mods requiring this file” list and thinking they need to download all of those.

I’ve never seen a mod that requires more than maybe…4 or 5 other mods - not counting patch collection mods which ofc require all the mods you have that it has patches available for.

0 - 3 requirements is the most common sight.

Yeah, that is very true, if you are any level of serious about modding you will need to use a mod manager. Either Vortex or Mod Manager 2 are the usual picks.

If you can't be bothered with all the dependencies you can look up a modlist and follow that or if you really can't be bothered with modding but want the benefits you can try out Wabbajack. That programm automatically downloads and installs a modlist but you will have little control over it.

either you buy a paid nexusmods account, and then use Collections[next.nexusmods.com] with a click..

NexusMods Collections don't need a Paid account, it's just that download speeds are capped (somewhat slow) (but no limit on downloads bandwidth usage, so you can even freely download mods that are several GBs in size) on the free tier of Nexus accounts.

Of course, downloading and installing a Nexus Collection with lots of mods, will be faster with a Paid Nexus account, but I personally avoid huge Collections anyway.

Even in an Essential Collection, there may be a few mods linked in it that are broken or outdated/incompatible, so it is trial & error method of diagnosing the issue and scouting for alternate mods or patches, in such cases anyway.

That said.. starting with a free Nexus account, getting Vortex from the Nexus site, and downloading an Essential Collection (that's compatible with the user's Skyrim game version) from the Nexus site's Collections page, is my recommended approach for newbies. I have tried Wabbajack and other such tools, but they seem to be overkill for my old gaming PC, as their modpacks tends to be huge and bloated.
