Skyrim Anniversary Upgrade - worth it?
Most reviews tell tell that Anniversary Upgrade is just broken.
Is that true?

-Spell books more powerful than the vanilla spells..... all obtainable for free from a single chest at lvl 1

The list goes on, it's a bunch of highly unbalanced mods which make everything vanilla basically useless and every bit of character progression is gone. These mods come with their own bugs as Bethesda never properly tested them. You are pretty much paying for a bunch of mods, while you can get better tested mods which are updated and for free on any modding site.

But you do you, if you really want them, get them. But don't say people aren't warning you. This isn't DLC, these are poorly implemented mods which again, you pay money for.

The Anniversary Upgrade is not broken.

Whether or not it's worth it is another question entirely. Not to me, but it has its fans.
by the time the upgrade came around I owned most of the creations that came with it. the only benefit of the upgrade is the creations. look an see what added with it and decide if it worth it to you is my best advice.

AE is just a bunch of hand-picked mods, as i've heard. :cozydarkseer:
These mods might conflict with other mods, that you're planning to use. :repenny::penny:
yeah unless you plan around them and you can always remove them individually if they cause conflicts and play with the ones that don't. I have over 150 mods and no conflicts here. I also use skse and mo2 with the loot plugin. sometimes its not a conflict but the load order that causes problems.

Despite you can find a lot of free mods with the same quality, I like this upgrade a lot because it has quality content and you don't need to make them work together, they can work easily with each other without any config unlike mods.

Edit: have to admit that some of the new content is unbalanced. The new spells are really powerful.

Anniversary Edition is not an upgrade of any kind. It is just a bundle of previously released Creation Club items and it does not change game version.

Mods mentioning "AE" as version do not point to Anniversary Edition DLC, but to up to date version of Skyrim SE. Modding was split, when compiler update required several mods to get rewritten, but there were no longer interested authors around to do so.

These days they have either been remade or replaced. Few mods didn't get an update, but that just means that they weren't important enough for anyone to redo (depending on permissions) or replace them.
I'd say that Anniversray edition is worth it and I don't think it is broken it comes with a lot of new content and adds some weapons and armour from Oblivion and Morrowind and also adds new areas and locations including mehrunes dagons realm the deadlands which was a realm you go to visit in the elder scrolls Iv oblivion.:Ebonheart:

No you do not need this upgrade to get all achievements there are achievements for the dlcs dawnguard haerthfire and dragonborn but these are the dlcs that come with special edition and only on the 2011 release of skyrim you need the dlcs to get all achievements because the 2011 release did not come with the dlcs you needed to buy them seperataly but on special edition which is this edition you do not have to own the dlcs.
