I am so happy to have stopped the game from updating yesterday, as my nolvus / dlss 3.0 version with some extra gimmicks remains intact and enjoyable :)

i know right? and you get all these bethesda simps who don't realise these updates probably break CC mods too and the only reason there isn't mass complaints right now is because the CC makers get an advanced look so they can make fixes early.
We just knew that new update is coming coz we follow the news unlike you. So we are ready for it. We may update if we want or not update if we don't.

Every single time hordes if people step onto the same mine again and again. For the love of mother learn your lesson!

well i see =_=
You are using a newer version of Skyrim than this version of
SKSE64 supports.
If this version just came out, please be patient while we
update our code.
In the meantime, please check link for
updates.
Do not email about this!
Runtime: 1.6.1170
SKSE64: 2.2.5

They think is DLC or cretion club to move skyrim, this is sad :steamfacepalm:

\steamlibrary\steammaps\appmanifest_489830.acf --> right click --> properties --> set to "read only"

Now you can't start SkyrimSE via Steam anymore but your SkyrimSe will also be unable to update.

I hope this is permanent, and not something that occasionally ticked off randomly.

Here is what I found, sourced from Reddit. Judging on whats being updated, folks might not have to re-config their entire mod collection, but keep an eye out for SKSE updates n' such, those are practically guaranteed.

As i see it, apart from a few minor controller changes, this is essentially a paid mod update.

steam can provide old versions of games via beta branches, but bethesda doesn't use this tool to make players happy. I am with you on this, if developers abuse update system to break user experience, then steam should step in

If I set it to not to update unless I launch it from Steam on one computer will that setting carry over to Steam on another computer?

Such a great choice. Unlike Skyrim, their massive update didn't include micro transactions or break the game for mods.
