Looking for my first modded skyrim experience.
As title says, im looking for a first experience with mods on skyrim SSE, i just dont like youtube tutorials, they dont answer to some questions nor help in case of crashing. I want to lightly mod my skyrim, just a shader pack, some weapons and armors, companions and just QoL things.

- Skyland AIO for graphics.
- Just type in followers in Nexus and you find many pages of downloadable followers.
- I'd recommend Ineed and Campfire mods for starters. Allows you to set up tents and camp fires, and iNeed adds in the need to eat, drink, and sleep, but doesn't hinder fast travel. I just added those two mods to my list and really like them .
- There's other QoL mods, but someone can fill you in on them. Personally, I use a collection and have been slowly adding more mods, so I can't help there.

- Someone else can help with weapons and armors, I can't.

edit:
Also, be sure to use a mod manager. I'd recommend Vortex.

edit:
If you really want to flesh out your game though, I'd recommend using the Immersive+Pure collection; you'll have to start a new save though.

I don't about others, but I only use Vortex, and skse (skyrim script extender).

Vortex IS a mod manager, and loot is built in.

If you're playing with Mouse and Keyboard I recommend SkyUI, much better for M+KB. If you're using a gamepad it's not necessary, unless you start using a buch of mods that have extra menus to tweak them.https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12604

For followers
Inigo - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1461
Lucien - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/20035
Auri - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/11278
Replacer I use for Auri - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/36444
M'rissi- https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/9666
Serana with the Serana Dialogue add-on https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/32161
Replacer I use for Serana - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/43430

Are you playing male or female? Not all armors are for both, there are more for females.
I use very few weapons mods.
Dawnbreaker Replacer - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/18372
Ebony Sword Replacer - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37645 This isn't a mistake by the way, this is an Oldrim mod, but it works in SE.

Here are some armors I use, there are more, but they have requirements that are a little more involved than plug and play.

Female Only
Hedge Mage - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/5269
Dark Knight - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/40775
DX Witcher Armor - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/33034
Battle Mage - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42524
Wilderness Witch - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/40963

League of Assassins Armor https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/83442
This armor is amazing, one of my Favorites, but if you want it function properly, get the Linked "Faster hdt-smp mod". Some other armors require is as well, anything with physics actually.

Male and Female
Sithis Armor - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/39080
This also includes some weapons as a bonus.
The Black Sacrement - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/16604
Also has weapons... it says deleted but also shows it can still be downloaded, I'm not sure I have had this one for awhile.
Deadric Reaper - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4372
Raven - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/87655
Raven has physics as well, so you need to same requirement as the League armor.
Rugged Rogue - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/40606
Zerofrost Ultimate Armor Collection https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/45145
This one has Female only, unisex and Male only armors, read the description.

You can also check the mod Categories for more.

I would absolutely recommend Mod Organizer 2 INSTEAD of Vortex. I used Vortex in the past for my first modding experience, but then deleted everything and switched to MO2. Vortex looks nice, but MO2 feels more like a PC program. Its almost like Apple and Android.

Yes, you need SKSE and the LOOT program. LOOT organizes your load order. After this, youll likely get BodySlide, which allows you to edit character models, and then youll get either FNIS or Nemesis, which are animation applications. Youll need these if you want to add any character animations, like a combat dodge roll mod, for example
For visual mods I'd recommend Lux Via and SMIM on nexusmods.

If you have played the game vanilla (without mods), you may probably know what you like to have changed in your game, Go check out the Nexus. No need to install 2000+ mods in a collection, wabbajack or whatever. Don't rush it, pick the mods you like and check them out. I prefer to do it one at a time, or more when it concerns pure mesh/texture replacers. No recommendations from me, maybe only the Cathedral 3D mesh/texture replacers (replacing 2D meshes into 3D meshes).
