my two cents…don’t use collections. build your own mod list to suit your tastes. also helps you learn how to mod your game. tutorials and help articles are pinned in this forum.

I like the collections. Its nice to have everything available in just a few clicks, even the ENB. My gaming time is limited during the week so its definitely a convenience factor for me. And the author is very active regarding updates and absolutely takes recommendations from the discord community. If you do the discord thing, that might be a good option to get a better idea of whats in them.

I pay for Nexus to get complete automatic mod collections. I find it very useful and saves a lot of time. Both fast internet and Nexus together is a great help if you like playing with mods.

polarizing topic, and if you've "been modding skyrim forever" then you're what, trolling, since you know collections caused a nexus exodus over the ability to remove their own content being taken away.

Collections are bad, but if you really want collections? at least pay for premium like zark here. only honorable thing to do, for bulk downloaders.

FYI - anyone paying attention California laws this week, 4 new content and disclosure laws passed, especially the one people who make profit off others data are going to hate... just google California Delete Act.

The main difference is 4k textures and enb. But my 2070s showed not stable 40-60 fps. So I had to disable the enb. Also in the epic collection there is more content with locations and quests. And it uses Nemesis instead of fnis. Most new animations require just Nemesis.

I am now, after checking out the collections.

I've been playing modded Bethesda games since Morrowind. My previous Skyrim setup was stable with about 400 mods - but that took me dozens of hours of testing and building to reach, and even then the more i played the more i found small conflicts, glitches and gaps in my mod list.

Most recently i've been playing using a collection of around 1000 mods (Gate to Sovengarde). The advantage to this is that it took about 2 hours to set up automatically in the background, and has a level of stability and polish i simply couldn't match as i don't have hundreds of users to test out my mod list for me.

Since starting i've tweaked the settings and added about a dozen extra mods, so a collection can be a starting point for your own mod list, you're not locked into just playing with someone elses ideal mod list.

Why? you can simple do collection without Premium. it takes a while true but you only need to do it 1 time if you keep the download folder.

I use adult and Immersive & Epic realms of nirn NSFW

i also have heavily modified it, i not using ENB but upscale.
it have a major bug that i found a solution for.

with bow of ariel the dude keep standing like a stone. you just go back and play the game
at some point you get teleported and serana unlock the forcefield. and anything go's according the game plot *no bugs* "i also suggest to save skytim 2 times at the inner sanction

if you try to console solution you game get bugged. and you will regret it.

The light and shows of adult and Immersive & Epic realms use Lux it's very dark
i suggest you disable or uninstall Lux and use Cathedral mods

the "adult" part is less good then i thought
OStim and flowergirl is nice but it do bring less gameplay in game then you would think.

the immersive lists are built to be as simple and streamlined as possible - they don't use too many mods so they're very popular for people who want a super light vanilla+ style game that still adds a fair bit of content. personally i tried like four different versions of the lists and it's just not enough mods in the game, it feels like vanilla with some stuff tacked on + a lot of the mods they use are old, there's just newer and better stuff now

collections in general are okay but they force you to use vortex which is comparatively the 1980s ford sedan of mod managers. getting any mod list to work past about 300 mods in size is incredibly difficult with vortex because it's largely automated, so what the person who made the collection has in their load order will never be exactly what you have in your load order. instead of being like every other computer program and being 100% accurate at everything it does, vortex will forget to do this, simply not do that, it will put files in the wrong place, or set permissions for a file / directory and then complain about the permissions it set... among the million other ways it can break itself. i say this as a user of vortex for over 5 years, if you value your time and just want to play the game, don't mess with nexus collections

i personally use a nexus collection, dae's dangerous domain, and it's by far the best large modlist available anywhere - whether on nexus or on wabbajack - it's one of only two collections i would even think of recommending and even using vortex for as long as i have it's still tough to get working sometimes after an update / if vortex fails during install

i have been running support for two popular nexus collections - gate to sovngarde and dae's as mentioned above - on both curators' discords for a while now and almost EVERY SINGLE help thread we get across both is because vortex messed up during install

if you want a self-installing modlist, check wabbajack - it runs off mod organizer 2 which is a million times faster, simpler, precise, efficient, and has more high-quality modlists overall. most stuff on nexus is either low effort or doesn't have enough mods to warrant potential vortex hassle - there are exceptions obviously and i haven't tried every list out there but i have ran most of the popular ones and it's just not usually worth the trouble

> Why? you can simple do collection without Premium.

Sure, you can do simple collections without Premium... but what do mod creators get from free account d/l's? a tenth of a penny? Most just donate any profit to charity causes because to a single person, it doesn't amount to a large starbucks coffee per 10,000 downloads. Premium users on the other hand...

re: adult mods, that's neither here nor there, some are comical, some are traumatic, some are freaky borderline creepy fetish... not any of them are that "sexy" though, mostly because of AI dialogue sounding like a deadpan Siri telling you oh baby. you. sexy. you. are. I. bad. want. you. etc... well, yeah, that ain't sexy.

But the issue is about mod content creators, and control over their creations, not that collections don't work. They do.

That's one thing I've always respected about the wabbajack community for non-technical gamers who want "just to it for me" modding mentality; full speed won't work without a premium account unless you rip apart our scripts and edit them, and if you're not technical, then just take the list and go down it one by one.... you can still get the same tested stability of a curated list, tested by dozens/hundreds of other gamers, but it takes more effort. That's fair, right? Pay for convenience.

Nope. Build my collections myself with the exact mods I want or need.
gazeofdisaster Oct 15, 2023 @ 1:19pm
Wabbajack - download it - it installs some really good modpacks. Easier and less of a headache than dealing with vortex.
