Mods not working
Hi everyone, I hope someone will be able to help me 'cause I'm getting desperate.
For months I've been playing Skyrim SE, with mods, and everything was just working fine, but since a few weeks I'm having issues with hair. I've always used mods for hair have never had any issue with it but they're not working anymore. I've tried several hair mods and none of them works. Some will work on some NPCs but not my character. I've uninstalled everything, Skyrim, Mods, Saves, cleaned everything with SSEDdit and ReSaver, organized with LOOT, and started a new game with hair mod and it still doesn't work.

I guessed it was a script problem on my moded game which has some issuess, but then I don't understand why it doen't work on a new game.

Does anyone have anny idea ? I've been searching on the internet but have not found anything working.

The days of cleaning master files and mods are over, that would be my first guess to the issue from what you posted.

Thanks for your answer.
It happened before I cleaned everything. With or without cleaning it still doesn't change anything so I don't know.

What mod manager are you using? Could be load order issues, Vortex has been excellent recently with managing load orders, I'm not fluent with MO2 / Loot.

I use MO2, maybe I should try vortex

Could you be more clear about it “not working”?

What do you mean exactly?

The hairs just don’t appear in the race menu? They do but they’re misshapen or appear too high or too low on your character? They look really messed up with stretching and weird colors? What?

Are you using normal hairs or physics enabled hairs?

I’m not trying to be confrontational, but just using “not working” when you’re looking for advice/help with mods is a bit too vague, ya gotta tell us what’s actually going on, ya know?

It's just that the mod is supposed to change the hair quality, and it just doesn't appear in the game, it's still the vanilla's, like I didn't download anything.

You've really got to be more specific. Telling us 'the mod' doesn't tell us what mod.

You’re being too vague.

You need to tell us what’s actually happening, and what mods you’re trying to use.

So you’ve been using mods that what? Add new hairs? Change their textures?

And they worked fine for awhile and then just stopped working as if you don’t even have those mods installed anymore?

Did you download/install something new recently related to hair?

Did you change it in Racemenu?

Well, there's 3 major oopsies to start with...

Don't clean anything unless you HAVE to because the MA requires it. The general advice is don't clean the masters or CC content. Some of the game requires the "dirty" edits to work.

Ditch Resaver, as it's not for what you think it is.

And don't rely on LOOT sorting everything properly. It's an aid to help; it won't get it right in larger load orders and you do need to do some manual positioning.

Because the mod doesn't work on your version of Skyrim? (Since, we don't know which version your on.. could still be 1.5 trying to use a 1.6 physics mod or something)
Because the mod isn't configured correctly?
Because you don't have all the requirements?
Because another mod is overwriting it?

There's so many reasons it could be... Why not tell us which mod so we can be a bit more helpful?

Perhaps it's such a subtle change that you think it's not working but is?

Just... tell us which mod it is, it would be more helpful to you than guessing :steambored:
