help modding with vortex
Not exactly Skyrim related question but I only use vortex to mod Skyrim so that's pretty much the only place I know of that I can ask that question. Currently I've downloaded quite a few mods using vortex for Skyrim but I'm running out of space on one card I have a second one with plenty of place but I don't know where the mods are so that I can move them from one disk to the other sorry if I used card and disc I don't know which ones which I'm not good with computer that place where I store documents on my computer it might be something else but I've only been downloading mods at least as far as I can remember for things that are on that disc all the other things are supposed to be already on the other so can someone tell me how to move my mods in Vortex and all that s*** from one storage place to the other and if possible without having to put the mods back in the game from the start because I've got a few hundred mods so I would rather not have to redownload and put them back in the game also I don't know where exactly the files for Vortex and my Skyrim mods would be so please also tell me how to find them, thank you.

First off, Paragraphs, sentences, commas etc they make stuff readable....
Second, it helps if you write stuff as text and not as speech.

Currently I've downloaded quite a few mods using vortex for Skyrim, but I'm running out of space on one card. I have a second one with plenty of place, but I don't know where the mods are, so that I can move them from one disk to the other. Sorry if I used card and disc, I don't know which ones are which, I'm not good with computer s. that place where I store documents on my computer, it might be something else ,but I've only been downloading mods at least as far as I can remember for things that are on that disc.

All the other things are supposed to be already on the other, so can someone tell me how to move my mods in Vortex, and all that s*** from one storage place to the other. And if possible without having to put the mods back in the game from the start, because I've got a few hundred mods . So I would rather not have to redownload, and put them back in the game. Also I don't know where exactly the files for Vortex and my Skyrim mods are, would be so please also tell me how to find them, thank you.

Vortex downloads stuff to the same place unless you change it, so if you download another mod, then go to Windows explorer (the file manager in Windows) and look for recent files, it should give you the location where your other mods are. You can also search for files by date, so if you know that you installed a mod on a specific date, you can find them by search for files on that date....... although if they were updated that can stop that method.

There are also guides for using Vortex, I would imagine one of them would tell you how to move mods from one disk to another. You could try cutting and pasting all mod files from one location to the other, but you would need to get all the files, since orphaned files can cause problems.

Hopefully someone using Vortex will post a more thorough post.

To find out where your mods are located:
1 - open vortex
2 - klick mods
3 - rightklick on any mod and select "open in file manager"
4 - now you see the directory in the windows explorer / file manager

Personally, i don't use vortex to download mods, i download them myself.
I have my system and my games on different storage.
Got 379 mods in skyrim SE, works fine.

The mods tab of vortex settings will tell you where it puts mods, and will allow you to change where that happens.

Always consult the Vortex Knowledge Base which btw can be accessed directly from within Vortex.

Mod Staging folder
This is the folder where Vortex stages your mods i.e. unpacks them to. Due to how the Bethesda games work (including Skyrim and Skyrim Special Edition), the Mod Staging Folder must be on the same partition as the game.

The default location for the Mod Staging Folder is “C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\skyrimse\mods”. To change it, go to Settings > Mods and change the folder to an (empty) folder of your choice that is located on the same partition as the game.

You can change both your Download Folder as well as your Mod Staging Folder at a later point in time and even when you have already downloaded and installed mods. Depending on the amount of mods you have downloaded and/or installed, it will take a while for Vortex to move your folder(s). Please make sure that enough disk space is available and remain patient, as your mods will be copied over.

The above info is from the Vortex Knowledge Base
