I am simply running 1.6.640, and running mods compatible with 1.6.640.
I pointed the MO2 installation to a folder I named "root" (it can be named anything, and the 1.4.0 Eldryn install doesn't come with a "root" folder, typically known as a "Game root," which means the actual game's core essential files are installed in that folder as if they were regularly installed under the usual "Steam\steamapps\common" folder). Then I copied the downgraded files into that "root" folder, including the 7 new Creations I paid for (I used these Steam console codes to download the full 1.6.640 version of Skyrim):
To open the Steam console - in Windows - press Win + R to open the "Run" window. Type "steam://open/console" into the box, and press Enter.
Alternatively, open your web browser, and type "steam://open/console" into the address bar, and press Enter.
Type these codes into the Steam console one after the other to fully download Skyrim 1.6.640:
download_depot 489830 489831 3660787314279169352
download_depot 489830 489832 2756691988703496654
download_depot 489830 489833 5291801952219815735
After that, it was simply a matter of running "SkyrimSELauncher.exe" at least once, restoring Eldryn's default Skyrim.ini, SkyrimPrefs.ini, and SkyrimCustom.ini from faithfully made backup inis by copying them to Eldryn's main MO2 profile folder, and simply adjusting the load order of the seven new Creations' physical plugins, but LASTLY, I was required to download a single new mod in order to save my load order...
"BEES!" Bees.
Bees. The very thing that broke Skyrim, saved it:

Voila. Literally everything you ever wanted to do in Skyrim, you can do, and with any new paid content as well.

It
Just
Works.
It will even work on 1.5.97, so long as you restrict yourself to 1.5.97-compatible mods.
