Wildcat combat mod
I tried this one out on a suggestion and it does nothing but make enemies immune to shieldbash, and their infinite stamina remains while mine gets zeroed from blocking two attacks or making one power attack. Are there some more fun options? True directional movement is another i heard mentioned

Last question in the FAQ's of the Wildcat mod page

I want to disable Stamina costs, stagger and/or injuries:
Use the Wildcat MCM to disable these features.

mm. already reduced them to sane levels. Didnt see an option to reduce costs for blocking. Or maybe thats the standard amount and im not used to it since i dont normally play stand up fighters.

Wildcat is actually out of date (last update in 2017). That author's latest combat mod is Valravn. Not sure if it'll be any better for you though. Haven't really studied what the differences are in particular.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/53869

And no offense to those who do love Wildcat, whatever works for you of course.

Did not know. This looks interesting. I am about to start a new playthrough. Depending on how much effort it is to disentangle Wildcat (I do manual installs) I might give this a go.

If it truelly applies the same to NPCs that is. If this is just a way to hobble myself its a no go.

Update: Not sure how much "Better" it is than Wildcat which I am already used to. Going to keep an eye on it though maybe for a future playthrough.

I am not sure if you really want Valvran. It is oriented to the stamina and comes with a minimum value, in contrast to Wildcat's disable feature.

This author has also another combat mod; Smilodon. It's hard to figure out the differences besides actual testing these.

Wildcat has an injury system - fwiw - while others does not have it. This mod is "old" because it originates from Oldrim (got ported over), yet still useable. I am using this one.

A point of critic; I really wish that the author keeps it simple instead of adding multiple mods without pointing out the actual differences. There are other mods from his side that does the same thing ... on first sight.

There's a lot other combat mods (Valhalla comes in mind but is stamina based as well) on Nexus ... each one with their own approach.

Wildcat is great I use it for years now, and the difficulty it adds is good, I combine it with other mods too btw. I even use Wildcat in VR.

I'd not be surprised if pretty much all combat mods make stamina more a requirement. Vanilla Skyrim really doesn't use stamina much, which most would say is a big flaw. You can literally power attack or bash every time you have even 1 point of stamina. Hence the 'exploit' you can do with vegetable soup where you can perma stun lock/stagger any enemy you want as vegetable soup gives you a long lasting buff of stamina recovery every second.

well, the enemy AI is not so smart and tries to attack you by casting spells. There's no resource management, nor strategical battling. Thus such enemies are given a large mana pool (that can run out) so that it is guaranteed that they can cast various spells, even on high level, with leveled spells (adept / expert lvl) without ruining their pool. On top of that, just in case their mana is empty, a high mana regeneration is given so that they can continue the battle quickly.

It's similar as giving archers infinite ammo. Such mechanism is reused in Fallout games that is built on creation engine; you see enemies consuming lots of ammo in a gun fight, like there's never an end of it.

A degree of that can be expected. Such as in total war games or other RTS where they get more resources because the AI has less strategic capability than the player.
