Fishing

I'm trying to find Goldfish for a quest and I'm at Maras pond. I've fast forwarded time a few days and still nothing. Any suggestions?

When fishing, is the water "alive"? If it it still, then there is no fish.

That spot should give you some. But I remember fishing it up somewhere near Pinewood Cave. If unsure, you can consult uesp wiki to find other spots:

I have AE, should they be automatically added?

Fishing is in the base game - so it does not matter if you have the AE DLC or not.

Still no fish, I've been swimming in all the hot spots but all I see is salmon.

No mods at all.

You will NOT find some or any fish from the CC content in game by swimming in ponds, lakes and rivers. Those specific fish are added by quest and/or script if you are using the correct rod and if you are fishing in the correct water type, and/or if you have reached a certain stage in the quest. You need to follow the questline from the Fishing CC.

When I did that quest, I ended up harvesting the 3 guaranteed spawns in one of the pools above the Falkreath Mill. It isn't fishable water, you harvest the spawns the same as you would pick a flower or grab a salmon in a river.

Of course, given Murphy's law, after I had turned the quest in, I started catching them with the fishing pole.

Yes, but you have to accept a specific quest or stage in a quest, before the fish will spawn. Those specific fish will not spawn from game start!

I found 3 swimming in the pond just outside Fellglow keep.

I just started messing around with fishing last night. You can acquire a map that shows the hot spots for fishing. I was in Falkreath. You can't just fish anywhere you want. You have to equip the fishing rod and be next to a bucket of fishing supplies and interact with the fishing supplies and that starts the fishing animation. I found a goldfish in Falkreath.

I hate the fishing but i have found goldfish in a few places that you catch like salmon. Never picked up a rod but i got goldfish.
