A few novice questions
Q1) Can Companions die? Is there a way to Stimpac them like in Fallout 4? Saw that RIP Lydia thread and sent her home

Q2) Up in the ice camp Highdumpgarbage and suppose to learn the whirlwind word. Press Z for shout like the last word learned and the PC doesn't go through the gate.

Q3) so it's not level + XP but points an skill level? What level for? Just to get you bigger monsters?

I've not played very long, but it seems better written then FO4.

Yes companions can die if you hit them it is only if you hit them otherwise they will be knocked on the ground if they revcived enoguh damage from an emeney and they can get knocked down but they will get back up in a few seconds i think and when not in added as companion they will die by if attacked by enemies when they are your companion they are will only knocked down and the way to get xp for levels is by raising you're skills like two handed one handed block destruction magic sneak skill and quests do not give xp

1) Most followers can die[en.uesp.net]. But under most normal conditions, they'll just be incapacitated until they heal, or you heal them. You can give them basic (non-crafted) potions and they will use them in battle.

2) Sounds like a bug report? Try here[en.uesp.net] and see if it's covered; otherwise, somebody here will have some ideas.

3) When your character level increases, you get a Perk point (like a talent point) to spend on one of the skill trees. You also increase your health, stamina, or magicka. Other than that, yes, to get you bigger monsters and better loot (in many places-- other times monsters or loot is fixed). There are some level requirements to certain quests as well.

Followers can still die to enemy attacks, particularly area attacks or poison damage. But even something like an arrow that misses you but happens to hit the follower can kill them. Enemies shouldn't directly target a follower who has taken a knee, but damage is damage and will kill the follower regardless of its source.

Q3) so it's not level + XP but points an skill level? What level for? Just to get you bigger monsters?

Your character level is what determines the enemies you fight, as well as what equipment those enemies have and the loot you can find. Some of the quests have a level requirement as well.

Q1: Yes, but most are "protected" which means you usually have to deal the finishing blow. OP of the RIP Lydia thread killed Lydia with his bow by accident. There are a few "Essential" followers who cannot be killed at all.

Q2: Did you unlock the shout? They should have given you the knowledge without needing to spend a dragon soul.

Q3: Leveling up unlocks quests, better loot, and most importantly perk points.

Preference on which you like more. Though if I were to give a writing award to one of these, it would be Skyrim.

Fo4 plot - Find Son
Skyrim plot - Stop a Demi-God world devouring dragon.

Q1) Yes, Companions can die, IF they're a current follower and you're the one who deals the killing blow. Stupid joke there; the Companions are the name of an in-setting mercenary organization, while "followers" is the actual term for the NPC's who can accompany you.

Q2) Shouts need to be learned and equipped before you can use them. All Shouts you currently have are in the Magic menu, under "Shouts". They also have a cool-down; using any Shout means you have to wait 8 seconds before Shouting again, even if you want to use a different Shout.

Q3) Correct. Every time you use a skill, the progress bar for that skill fills up more. When the bar is filled all the way, it contributes to your character progress bar. When THAT bar is filled up all the way, you've hit a new level. That allows you to increase one of your three base stats and gives one one skill point that you can use to gain a perk in any of the skill trees.
