Whiterun pathfinding problems.
Something seems to have gone royally screwy with the road on Whiterun that passes by Pelagia Farm. For some reason NPCs just stop dead in their tracks whenever they reach the border of that chunk. Only way they seem to ignore it is if they're in combat but otherwise... yeah, they're scuppered. I do have mods like Civil War Checkpoints, Refugees and Immersive Patrols enabled but I wouldn't have thought they'd be a problem since they're so far removed. Is there any way I can actually fix this or is it just a fixture now?

This is potentially caused by inaccurate NAVmesh edits with the current version of the Checkpoints mod. Several people are reporting quest issues when NPC's stop moving from the city limits of Whiterun.

Try installing the previous version (from 2.1 to 2.0) and see if the NPC pathing improves. Keep in mind, there doesn't appear to be a lot of patches for this mod. This means there are many that will conflict with it if they edit the same cells.

Immersive Patrols - while maybe not the specific cause of this issue - is sorta notorious for causing problems as well.

It’s one of those mods that some use it and swear it works perfectly, while others get beat down with CTDs and other issues until they remove it from their mod list.

There’s something about how the mod is put together and does what it does that makes it kinda volatile when used in conjunction with certain settings or alongside other mods that aren’t necessarily identified as being incompatible.

Happy to announce that it seems like the Checkpoints downscale has resolved things. Hopefully it stays that way, so thanks. Also, I appreciate the heads up that it and Patrols are in fact this... iffy (would never have guessed for how small they are in scope). Definitely making a point to check the posts on Nexus going forward.
