Now if they had asked if Nolvus was worth installing, then I would probably say no, because you are letting someone else choose what mods you are using, which kind of defeats the point of modding, getting the game how YOU want it.
I would still like to be able to install my own mods eventually, but having a huge base to build from seems appealing. Aka hit the ground running then tweak to preference later.
Thing is, I only just heard of Nolvus, so I don't know how hard it is to set up, if it would run on a 16GB 4060 Ti @ 1080p, if you can still add your own mods later, etc.
The reason the topic is so vague is because I didn't know what to ask. I don't even know what I don't know yet.
better use a collection far more likely to add mods
As for how easy it is, from what I understand, it's literally use their launcher and it does the rest. But it is resource intense, so you need a very good system to use it without stuttering.
Then, you need to pick a collection built for that purpose.
Nolvus isn't built for that. It's not meant to be modified, and has it's own custom edits to mods to allow them to use all of the ones included within Nolvus, together. That will make it difficult to add even the most basic of mods, because, lets assume they use Player Headtracking; You won't know if any custom edits have been made to any of the files within the Nolvus version of Player Headtracking, and anything that builds on top of it may not work correctly, if at all.
I don't know the requirements of Nolvus offhand, but from what i DO know, is it's quite demanding. I believe the Nolvus team resides on Discord, so it's probably better to ask there if your dead set on using it.
Your best bet is to do it yourself though, and as much as that takes time, it's virtually your only option if you want to add and remove things as you go.
Newbies can start with one of the Nexus collections though.
Never heard of Nolvus till now, but if it's having 2000+ mods and (perhaps, on some PCs) causes stuttering, I am likely to stay away from it.

But if you want a stable and robust game, then stick to something simpler and better maintained. The more the mods, the more the chances of something breaking, the more the chances of incompatibilities, and the lesser the chances for you to add your own chosen mods safely to existing huge modlist.
Not impossible, just harder than doing it all yourself..... way harder...
