Nolvus is not worth it.
Looks pretty, and it includes a ton of mods which is impressive, but that is about it. They have an optional set of recommended mods for playing with a controller, but it feels like it was designed by someone who only learned about the existence of controllers about 3 seconds before he was asked to design it.

It will cost you $25 to setup and well, and you have to make 3 separate 3rd party accounts.
1.) You have to pay $20 for the paid mods, aka the anniversary edition upgrade from Bethesda.
2.) You have to make a Bethesda account to download them all.
3.) You have to make a Nolvus account.
4.) You have to make a Nexus Mods account.
5.) You have to pay $5 to Nexus (and remember to cancel the auto renew). Technically this is optional, but no one is actually going to spend the time to slowly and manually download like 2000 mods.
6.) Then depending on your selected settings and such, you are looking at close to 500GB of space used.

It also requires 32 GB of system memory, not counting VRAM.

depends imho I mean it's a VERY large pack (over 2000 mods) some don't like the aesthetics of it. Best is to see what's in it run the key mods in there thru the nexus and see if you like them.

No
OP needs to say something other than "topic" for the body of the opening Post, because a Topic is a rather delicious chocolate bar.....

Now if they had asked if Nolvus was worth installing, then I would probably say no, because you are letting someone else choose what mods you are using, which kind of defeats the point of modding, getting the game how YOU want it.

Lots of people really like Nolvus. That said, it makes so many changes to base game content and mechanics that it might as well be a total conversion, and it's default installation needs a really powerful computer to run it.

Disagree. I have played thousands of hours of Skyrim with my own mod choices. I played around a dozen or more characters, etc. I got bored and uninstalled years ago.

I would still like to be able to install my own mods eventually, but having a huge base to build from seems appealing. Aka hit the ground running then tweak to preference later.

Thing is, I only just heard of Nolvus, so I don't know how hard it is to set up, if it would run on a 16GB 4060 Ti @ 1080p, if you can still add your own mods later, etc.

The reason the topic is so vague is because I didn't know what to ask. I don't even know what I don't know yet.

Well first of all it needs the entires AE (free and paid) secondly with over 2000 mods I very much doubt you can add anything also Nolvus uses it’s own launcher and download client. So adding stuff … Highly unlikely

better use a collection far more likely to add mods

It's not a base to build from, it's a preset build, if you want to do your own mods don't use Nolvus.

As for how easy it is, from what I understand, it's literally use their launcher and it does the rest. But it is resource intense, so you need a very good system to use it without stuttering.

Then, you need to pick a collection built for that purpose.

Nolvus isn't built for that. It's not meant to be modified, and has it's own custom edits to mods to allow them to use all of the ones included within Nolvus, together. That will make it difficult to add even the most basic of mods, because, lets assume they use Player Headtracking; You won't know if any custom edits have been made to any of the files within the Nolvus version of Player Headtracking, and anything that builds on top of it may not work correctly, if at all.

I don't know the requirements of Nolvus offhand, but from what i DO know, is it's quite demanding. I believe the Nolvus team resides on Discord, so it's probably better to ask there if your dead set on using it.

Your best bet is to do it yourself though, and as much as that takes time, it's virtually your only option if you want to add and remove things as you go.

How much does that cost?

Wabbajack, FWIW, is my modlist tool of choice.
Newbies can start with one of the Nexus collections though.

Never heard of Nolvus till now, but if it's having 2000+ mods and (perhaps, on some PCs) causes stuttering, I am likely to stay away from it.

If any game has thousands of mods, it will certainly look interesting.
But if you want a stable and robust game, then stick to something simpler and better maintained. The more the mods, the more the chances of something breaking, the more the chances of incompatibilities, and the lesser the chances for you to add your own chosen mods safely to existing huge modlist.

Using a collection as a base for more or less mods doesn't work. It doesn't work that way. Everything will explode.

Unless you have the modding skills to render a collection irrelevant.
Not impossible, just harder than doing it all yourself..... way harder...
