Skyrim Anniversary Edition mod tab not visible
Hope this gets seen. As of writing I upgraded to Anniversary Edition about two hours ago because a few of the mods I really liked depended on the new stuff (Missing masters in Vortex) and now I have a problem with the main menu. I can access the creation club just fine and it shows me that I own everything but the integrated mods tab just below it isn't there.

As of now I do not have any Vortex mods enabled, I've tried launching it through Steam, SKSE for Anniversary Edition, and Vortex. All showed the golden Skyrim logo (The silver being Special Edition and gold being Anniversary I assume). I got the mods tab to work prior to upgrading (Take my 20 bucks then Bethesda)

So to summarize, Anniversary edition, no mod menu visible, no enabled Vortex mods, worked with Special Edition. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, and I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. No dice. Verifying game files gave nothing, only made sure I have all the AE stuff.

Try rolling back to 1.5.97 version
(You will keep your AE stuff)

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/57618

Been browsing almost all the new mods on nexus past 2 months but I only came across only one mod which doesn't support SE (1.5.9) and it was just a mod about wind physics to your hairs

to me it seems v1.5.97 has a better mod support

I used this in order to fix a bug with Special Edition Script Extender before giving in, do I use BestOfBoth or FullPatcher?

Edit: Only asking because I do wanna use creation club stuff

Do NOT roll back! You WILL break your game! As has been repeated many a time, absolutely no one should be rolling back, nor should anyone be suggesting it - it is very bad advice.

With regard to downgrading and using current CC content, it absolutely NOT recommended.

As to using Best of Both Worlds which states that you can use current CC content with the old .exe, there is this
"anyone running the game with the current CC content and who has downgraded, is running the game in a broken state because the new content requires the updated executable."

"As to using the old EXE and the new content ... it's basically a broken game courting instability"

As to the menu not appearing, make sure that your Steam account is linked with your Bethesda account.

Okay, so if reverting isn't safe in order to use CC content and see the main menu mod tab, is there a better solution or am I boned out of half of my mods?

You can choose the lighter version to roll back only the game version and keep your anniversary edition dlc

as for the smr comment , fair warning but not DEFINITELY gonna break your game !
I downgraded and currently having 400+ mods running no problems yet.
infact I personally preferred to download another mod to get rid of that bethesda.net mods in the pause menu because sometimes I mistakenly click on it instead of the MCM mods menu

Edited my post - make sure your Steam and Bethesda accounts are linked - not having the accounts properly linked can lead to this.

It will break the game - as we have seen from numerous posts in the forums. Just because one individual has not observed an issue with it, doesn't mean that there aren't any - as stated, rolling back is a broken game courting instability - the new content requires the new .exe to function properly.

We often see people using the same arguments about other game breaking actions: "I've done it and nothing bad happened." That is fine, and if a person chooses to risk it, that is up to them, but they should not be suggesting that others do so. It is called recommending "best practices."

I'll consider using the downgrade but only as last resort. I agree with SMR, a user-to-user basis on success always feels off. Not discrediting you but I wanna use the safest options first if that's okay

That's because how this forum works , only people who facing issues come and report not the people who don't !
And only Talos knows that what other mods each person is using that may break their game .
I am not denying the possibility , I say fair warning but It's not DEFINITE

If there is a break (Wouldn't be too surprised but asking ahead of time), any ways to fix just in case?
smr1957 Mar 31, 2023 @ 9:56am
Restoring the game to the current version is the only fix if anyone should be so foolish as to roll back - and starting a new game as the saves will all be borked.

The advice posted is based upon literally thousands of hours experience with the game and in helping in the forums, and in knowing how the game works under the hood. Just as smashing your thumb with a hammer will make you forget about the small ache in your toe, that does not mean that anyone should be recommending it or that anyone should do it - even if others have said it works for them.

The issue with the missing menu has been observed before, and there are fixes - I just do not have them at my fingertips right now.

If your game crashes no matter what is causing it you can use these tools to track down the specific issue and resolve it :

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/59596

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42520

but before adding any mods , if you're suspicious on the downgraded version , just create a new save and play for a while just to make sure of it .

Checking, and the solutions listed for the missing mod menu are verifying the game files or doing a clean reinstall of the game.

And, as to advice, there is this - as not all advice is created equal - no matter how well intentioned it may be:
