What mods if any are you running and what version of Skyrim and SKSE are you using.
Current Anniversary Edition build 2.2.6 (game version 1.6.1170): Download 7z File
Before doing so, make sure you remove any SKSE files that you may have previously installed (they are prefaced with skse_)
It may be possible that you downloaded the wrong version - the version you want is for game version 1.6.1170 - that first file.
Using SKSE AE when you have SE will not do much good will it.
A lot of people have SE.
SMR's information is correct. skse only version checks against SkyrimSE.exe and no other files. If today you bought Special Edition from the Steam Store and an hour later decided to buy the "Anniversary Upgrade", you would still be using the identical SkyrimSE.exe, even though you owned the "Anniversary Edition".
It's unfortunate that the silverlock team chose to follow the misleading terminology inflicted on the gaming community by Bethesda's mutton-headed marketing department.
There is a technically inaccurate convention equating "Special Edition" with game version 1.5.97. This convention is not widely enough used to be a reliable guide for skse installations. Always use the version of skse intended for whatever version of SkyrimSE.exe you currently have installed and ignore "SE" vs "AE" distinctions because they are not helpful for this determination.
I’m not running any mods the only thing in my load order is Skyrim the dlc’s and some random things from the creation club shop. My Skyrim version is 1.6.1170.0 and that’s the same for skse. And what do you mean it’s not skse?, because it works fine without skse

And DO NOT clean or edit the Master files or any Creation Club content.

HOWEVER - if you are not using any mods that require SKSE, then you simply should not be using it anyway, and the issue becomes moot.
Good luck!
Okay I’ll try it out, ty
yyou need the modern x86 for a lot of games, buuuuuuut, skse is x64 no matter the format of your own computer.
had this issue last night, make sure you have both x86 and x64 runtime packages
restarts help a lot with htis, youll know yyouve made a solid change when it asks you to restart. thats when yyou know you did something right.
anywasys, hope this helps. ive turned everybody blue, annnnnnnnd im here.
