Civil War Mods
I’m doing some work on my mod list for a new playthrough and one area I want to polish up is in regards to the civil war.

I’m not necessarily looking for mods that change or expand the actual questline, but rather ones which make the province look and feel more like it’s actually currently IN a civil war.

I’ve looked at Skyrim at War, Civil War Overhaul, Civil War Checkpoints, and Civil War Refugees but I have concerns about them…

SaW looks pretty performance heavy, and sounds like it doesn’t play well with city/village overhauls. I’m also not keen on it giving bandit/mage held forts to one side or the other from game start. I’ve also seen people comment that it more or less ruins many quests because non-hostile NPCs easily get caught up in the mod’s consistent skirmishes in populated areas.

CWO sounded alright but I don’t like that supposedly each side brings in “monsters” to fight for them during battles (supposedly Stormcloaks have Khajiit and Giants fight alongside them…what?)

Checkpoints I know will conflict with JK Whiterun Outskirts, and I THINK the Imperial Dragonbridge camp conflicts with Cutting Room Floor’s added village. The Windhelm checkpoint leading south towards Kynesgrove I think would conflict with JK Windhelm Outskirts too.

Refugees apparently conflicts with most city exterior overhauls.

So what other options are out there and worthwhile?

I’ve used Civil War Battle Aftermath before and liked it but found that some of the battlefields (especially the one between Morthal and Dawnstar) would spawn dead soldiers who were naked - their clothes/armor in their inventories but not equipped).

I once tried the battlefield mod from the same guy that did the checkpoints and refugees mods but it overlaps with the previously mentioned one and I’m pretty sure the site outside Rorikstead is either right in Goldenhills Plantation’s front yard or on the property itself.

I used Immersive Patrols for awhile but realized it was causing consistent CTDs for me so I won’t be going back to that.

I currently use Man Those Borders and it works well with my list but those are manned by Hold guards.

Any other suggestions/recommendations?
