Faldar's Tooth gate: follower issue
Faldar's Tooth has two entrance gates, one open and one locked. I picked the lock on the latter and got the gate open, but Lydia would not follow me inside, even when asked to wait and folllow again. The opened gate is reasonably wide and high: why does she refuse to come in? (Eventually I led her round the long way through the other entrance.)

I'm guessing the developer left out the Navmesh for the entrance. This is why she will end up running around to the main entrance to try and catch up with you eventually.

Thanks for the response, Nabinkemper. I don't know about navmesh. I can walk the Dragonborn through the gate with no problem. Does the navmesh only affect NPCs?

Yes - the navmesh is where any NPCs in the game can move, and they can only move if the navmesh is not broken - if it is broken, then they will not cross the break. The player, however, moves independently of navmesh, though they will not cross or enter areas than are blocked off to prevent any movement at all.
