About The Meridia Quest
I see that this quest gets a lot of hate on the internet ("Don't touch this!" etc.) Why is that so? Can someone explain it to me? I don't get it.

while you carrie beacon Meridia periodically reminds you to do her quest and many people find this voice jumpscares too annoying. But I think this was patched and now she talks much less often, in my last playthrough I dont heared her reminds at all
She used to HARASS YOU while you're carrying the beacon.

I see. I never had her talking to me in any of my playthroughs. I think now I carried her beacon with me for at least 50 real-time hours, and maybe in the past I was "too fast" getting to Kilkreath.

Thanks!

Yeah, I've literally never had that happen. Even in the early days. Just the first time when you grab the beacon and thats it. Never understood the hate. Meme worthiness, sure. But not the hate.

I had her remind me a couple of times, it was random, and you could get it several times within a short space of time.... or you could go week without a reminder, and she was rather shrewish, could very easily be annoying.
it's tied to ontravel I think, so the survival player or the wandering overland player who doesn't use some fast travel mechanism it'll be farther between her Sigourney Weaver-esque naggings... hey, go do that thing I told you to do, you know I'm a daedric prince and can kill you, right?

the irony that it's a quite small dungeon, go float up and get lectured, kills some shades and a dragon priest, get a unique sword, and be done with it. but we are skyrim players, don't you tell ME what to do! :-)

A good part of it, IMO, is the sheer high-handedness of Meridia's attitude. She's not the only Daedric Prince you can deal with, but for one who's regarded as one of the "good" Daedric princes, she's most certainly a control freak. "You WILL do this!" Okay, Meridia, I understand, but I'm a busy Dovahkiin. Got a lot on my plate. You understand. Now if you don't mind, I got a province to re-unite, a world to save, and a rogue demi-god of a brother to smack down.
I have never had her remind in my near 3000 hours, even holding the thing until level 52 in one play though. I usually tend to do it rather early now though, with the mod I have that affects Dawnbreaker, but before that I never really went out of my way to finish the quest.
Just because it appears randomly and springs the quest on you when people dont necessarily want to do it.

It's just that "annoying" thing, like the adoring fan following you and showing up randomly in oblivion

huh... well one day when you're bored, track down what mod removes the reminder, I'm guessing a lot of people would love that; I tend to get it every so many hours til I finally go do it, as valden & psycho said, it's not so much the reminder that's annoying, it's that you got it while doing something else, so you don't want to redirect, and then her demanding attitude annoyance that specifically makes us not want to. I'm gaming here and you're bothering me, Meri. go away.

I've even removed quest status from the orb and stuffed it in a chest at a house, hoping that would make her shut up, but nope, once you touch it... guess you'd have to find the DA09*.psc script that controls it find the remind-the-player code, remove and recompile it. or use whatever is in your LO that lets you not get reminders.

To those who are annoyed: It's an easy quest, quickly to finish, not far away from Solitude and besides getting Dawnbreaker you can collect estimated 2000 gold from the corpses in the temple. Just finish it and be happy.
I just don't like the quest, the mage hurts at the end of the dungeon and I hate that he becomes a lich/dragon priest when killed

Thing is, it never happened to me even on the console, Oldrim, unmoddable.

Looking it up, she only seems to speak to you if you at one point lose her beacon then retrieve it again. However, that isn't normally possible, since it's a quest item.
It's the thing with internet - at least half the stuff you hear is nonsense, said just to say something.
