Ultimate Combat hasn’t been updated since 2020. Unless you’re still using game version 1.5.97 - it will not work.

If you are using 1.5.97, I don’t think believe BFCO will work.

i'm using the latest skyrim version. so i guess i have to let bfco overrite?
No, friend.

If a mod isn’t compatible with the version of the game you’re using - it will either cause CTDs or simply won’t function.

Ultimate Combat is an old, abandoned, and outdated mod that hasn’t been updated to work with any version of Skyrim beyond 1.5.97.

If you’re using the latest version of the game, you’re on 1.6.1170.

It’s not a matter of overwriting it, you shouldn’t be installing UC at all.

If you’re looking for something like UC I recommend taking a peek at Valhalla Combat, which is compatible with 1.6.1170. It has similar features to UC and more, including the ability to deflect projectiles.

ah, no. this is only for kill moves. i had that, it actually conflicts with my Skysa.
I need a mod that changes the swing animations... make it like a different game.
I believe that SkySA is considered “obsolete” and “outdated” now.

The combat animation mod that seems to be the most popular and widely used is Modern Combat Overhaul.

https://www.distaranimation.com/mods/attack

Once you have that installed, hit Nexus and just search “MCO” - you’ll be treated to pages and pages of animation sets for different styles and weapon types.

I keep meaning to try it out but haven’t done so yet.

It doesn’t require SCAR. It’s compatible with SCAR. From what I can tell, you only need to use SCAR if you want to install new animations for NPCs as well.

Also not sure where you’re getting the idea that MCO isn’t for 1.6.1170.

i got some questions about this mco, mind if i add you?
Hmm..... I do remember few mods relate to attack animation from Vortex. I think one of them are bow shooting.

I forgot what it call. I think better if you look for it your self.

I only just installed it and got it up and running tonight, but I’ll provide insight if needed.

Better to ask your questions here though as it could assist others who may have similar questions or issues with MCO.
Check out creator Verolevi
They have all sorts of weapon, walking/running, shouts ect... animations

SCAR is only a requirement if you want the AI to also use these animations. If you install it without SCAR it should result in just you - the player - using them but not humanoid enemies and NPCs.

I have a few animation packs for MCO that say they require SCAR, but I don’t have it.

Vortex does not yell at me about missing masters and I can play the game fine. In-game, my character uses all of the new animations and combos as they should while NPCs just use the basic versions of these normal and heavy attack animations.

If you are intent on having SCAR and need NPCs to have full access to all the animations and combos, doodlum has made an AE version of SCAR

SCAR’s original creator appears to be one of these anti-1.6+ types and refused to make his mod compatible with anything above 1.5.97.

Doodlum seems to have done it for him.

oh. it's good if i can safely ignore it. tbh i actually don't want them to have the animations!
but if this does the job then, i will install this AE version. thank you so much.
