Re-downloaded after several years, what's new?
I re-downloaded after several years and there seems to be new stuff that i don't remember seeing on either PC or xbox. New alchemy ingredients (aloe something maybe, some daedric silk), fishing maps, fishing poles, amber, some crystal thing i have to charge like a soul gem i guess but it seems to heal me if i use (which i don't know how to use). I also saw that Draugr now have maces and war hammers (that did make me happy to see).

Is there a list somewhere of all the new stuff? Is any of the new stuff must have items i.e. special quests that give rare items i absolutely need? From what i've seen it's game-as-usual plus some added stuff.

Just for clarification purposes: I haven't bought any Creation Club stuff.

Thanks for any guidance!

It’s all new. Updates and DLC are included which can be easily searched if wanna bother.
The 1.6 update added 4 Creation Club Mods to the Base game (You can't decline to install them). Fishing, Survival Mode, Rare Curios and Saints & Seducers. The also Released and Anniversery DLC (needs to be bought) which has most of the other CC items.

You are likely seeing the content from the 4 CC.

These are all the base-game "new things" added to the game. Saints & Seducers and Rare Curios are basically two separate things but bundled together as one thing.

They're... eh. The game isn't worse having them. Many people may like survival mode, but I personally don't. One bowl of soup being more filling the dozens and dozens of apples or potatoes is silly, and the game clearly wasn't intended for a fatigue or temperature mechanic.

For example, you can (and usually will) freeze to death when you're forced to watch the Elder Scrolls cutscene on top of the Throat of the World, because your character is still in that cutscene physically on top of the mountain, with no god mode enabled, so you're still freezing to death. And you will freeze in mere minutes.

A lot of cool new items to the game have been added to the game and in 2021 Anniversary Edition had it has been released it adds a lot of new items including weapons and armour and some and weapons armour from oblivion and morrowind and if you didn't buy the Anniversary Edition you would still get 3 free creations these are fishing and a shivering isles dlc from the oblivion dlc shivering isles and I don't remember the other free creation sorry.
Play and explore. Thats the nature of the game. Either explore ingame or using a wiki. Here is 1 of 100s out there for a decades old game.

Thanks!
The "Crystal Thing" Is a Varla stone, from Oblivion originally. They do not heal you, they are a reusable soul gems like Azura's Star, they only have a "common" capacity, but they won't break.

The largest amount of free Content is Saint's and Seducers, which you can start by talking to Ri'saad, the Khajiit who stops outside Whiterun, he'll have new Dialogue option about "Trouble on the Road". I won't spoil it, but be prepared.

There is nothing you "need" nothing super game-changing with the free stuff. The alchemy ingredients are quite good though, stronger than anything you can normally find in-game.

Ok, cool I have to try that stone with enchanting!

I’ll keep my eyeballs open for Khajits in Whiterun!

Thanks!

There are Khajiit Caravans outside all the Major Cities (The ones with walls) and Dawnstar Unless they are currently in transit, they will be at one of them. Not inside though, Nords distrust the Khajiit. Ri'Saad and his group are really easy to spot, you can't miss em when Visiting Whiterun, they are right by the Main Gate.

His group also travels to Markarth, but they are down by the river rather than near the city.

DLC's, paid mods and a never being available Store Front called Creations. If you want mods do not go to the Creations store it is not worth unless it is a mod exclusively only buyable on Creations.

I have to disagree. There is a ton of free content available on the CC store that is way better than the approved mods.
