Version Problem
Hello! I'm currently having an odd problem. My Skyrim won't update for some reason. I am stuck on version 1.6.1170.0, and trying to verify my files does nothing to help. I have found no tutorials that apply to this situation. I downloaded it to this computer yesterday after buying Steam's Anniversary upgrade, so I have no idea why it opted to download an older version instead of the my recent one.

You have the most recent game version. Here are several of the past update numbers (may be missing one or two, but this gives you the gist of how things went)

1.5.97 (the last Pre-Anniversary Edition, pre 12-2021 release)
1.6.353
1.6.640
1.6.1130
1.6.1170 (Most recent)

1) go into game
2) click on Creations
3) press O button on your keyboard for more options
4) select Download All Owned Creation Club Creations
5) wait for it to done for 10 to 30 minutes
6) open up a new vanilla game that have nothing to do with annoying ctd
7) HAVE FUN.

for that 1.6.1170.0 it's already the newest version, everything else for anniversary edition is all in creation club
Did you install mods before playing because mods might be affecting this not being able to update the game glitch.

Did you perhaps expect Anniversary Edition to change your game version? It does not do that: DLC is a bundle of files and game version remains the same.
Ah, thank you all. I thought something was wrong since the update list below showed 1.6.640 as the most recent (for some recent), so I thought something went wrong. I'm glad to know that nothing is.
(Also, to answer the other questions, I did not expect the anniversary edition to change my game's version. I did install mods and then deleted all of them before playing some, in order to create a clean save.)

1170 is larger than 640, so that should have been a clue. Bethesda stopped updating the news section long ago.
