Need help building an Ayleid lich
I know the bare minimum about Ayleid, mainly that they don't like fire magic as it's an inferior form of light and they also worshipped Daedra and played around with necromancy other than that I don't really know what else they would use. I would like to keep necromancy as a main focus as I just love necromancy but what else would an Ayleid lich use/what motivation would he or she have? As for mods I'm running I have Undeath and it's various sub mods (including the one that adds a Ayleid lich model), most of Enai's stuff including Imperious, I wanted to use a Ayleid race mod but I don't know if any of them are compatible with Imperious, Dead and Daedric Guardians, a few Ayleid gear stuff. I won't mention my other mods since I don't think they are too relevant.

One of the anniversary DLC creations features Ayleid ruins. You might be interested in that. It also has a creature called "Ayleid Lich".

Sorry I can't help with your actual question though.

ETA: also if you're interested, TESIV Oblivion has a lot of Ayleid lore.

hmm, well since Alyeids are "good" and noble and worship Meddie the only "good" daedric prince, and loathe the undead as much as Med himself, this would be tragic, to live on as a lich, so... motivations might be finding a way to become mortal again so you could die, trying to do good and things for the Light, an undead-hating undead, organizing the Vigilants or Dawnguard, or something. maybe only shatter soul stones to free the souls within and only use welkynds for stored magicka? I'm sure you can lore yourself something fun!

Hmm, "The Cause" is not lore friendly then. The Ayleid Lich becomes a summonable that practices necromancy.

I remember during the Ayleids later years they became more interested in debauchery and whatnot like with their famous flesh gardens and they used to enslave argonians and once said argonians died (of exhaustion or otherwise) they would use necromancy to bring them back to continue their servitude, that's the kinda lich I'm going for as I've kinda over did it with good guy characters (paladins, merchants, etc...)

Tried playing Oblivion again but one of my mods is causing my save to constantly get corrupted and I'm admittedly too lazy to try and see which one is the culprit
Edit: I just remembered YT playthroughs exist 😅

The various Ayleid city-states followed various beliefs, so not every one would loathe undead. Besides, even if there was some sort of consensus, then it still doesn't mean that every individual Ayleid would agree to it.

Go to the Wikis, because you know less than the bare minimum.... They classed the forth element as Light instead of Fire, but that didn't mean they didn't use Fire Spells...

Azura is also a Good Daedra, and is far kinder to her servants than Meridia.... and only a faction of Aylieds worshipped her, admittedly the largest faction, but not the majority...
And had no reservations about necromancy.... and were even more Fascist than the Thalmor.... You know what, you should read the wikis for info on Aylieds too.

"The reason for the Ayleids replacing fire with light in their elements, is because the Ayleids considered fire a weak and corrupt form of light". from the very wiki you'd have me read. They actively referred to fire as a CORRUPT version of light, one does not lightly use the word "corrupt" to describe something if there isn't some sort of negative bias to it and if there is a negative bias towards it one can imagine most Ayleid would not use fire magic in fear that it would make them appear weak. Also why do you need to be so overly sarcastic? Whenever I see your comments on other peoples posts you are always so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ smug.

That's not entirely true. The Ayleids weren't a united civilization; they were a civilization of city-states, and these city-states had different religious beliefs. According to UESP, they often fought each other over these beliefs. Another thing to consider is that people can become so devoted to one specific interpretation of their faith that they stop paying attention to what the core teachings of their faith actually say, in favor of their own circular thinking. The website TVTropes.org even has a name for it: "Tautological Templar". As my sixth-grade science and reading teacher would say, "They talk the talk, but they don't walk the walk". You could play such a character as one of these: a fanatical Meridia-worshiper who's so focused on fighting the undead that they've rationalized their own transformation into something that they should hate, and are totally unaware of why they're now the targets of those who hunt undead.

Corrupt as in not pure, not as in it corrupts you, they would have used Fire spells as much as anyone else, fire is too useful in combat to avoid it because you think it's an imperfect version of light.

And yes they used light spells instead of torches, but so too did the Dwemer, who viewed Fire as the forth element not light....

Oh and that wasn't sarcastism in my earlier post, overcofident maybe, but not smug.

No offense but "you know less than the bare minimum...." and "You know what, you should read the wikis for info on Aylieds too." kinda reeks of sarcasm. Now I'm willing to concede that perhaps, due to the reply being in written rather than spoken, I may have misrepresented your response but in truth I somewhat doubt it as sometimes when I stumble upon your replies on other peoples posts you tend to give off a downgrading tone. A normal response would've been "To learn more about the Ayleids, I recommend checking out the Wiki. It's a great place to start." Regarding the whole corrupt/pure argument, maybe a few Ayleid would've used fire spells (since no one can accurately say that all Ayleid have the same mindset) but I doubt that the middle and upper class of Ayleid would've used fire spells since the Ayleid were a very aloof and megalomaniacal race and any sign of weakness would've likely been exploited. Now look mate I'd rather this didn't turn into a full blown argument especially since there simply isn't enough proof in lore to support either my or your claims. So lets just agree to disagree and move on.
