Mod to change weapon skill exp?
I'm hoping to find a mod that does something specific.

My current character uses low level weapons (e.g. skysteel swords and hunting bow) which I've used smithing and enchanting to make very powerful. The attack speed and weight makes them better in my mind than doing the same with a daedric weapon for example (Also I just like how they look)

I've recently realised something annoying however, in that the amount of experience you get for one handed and archery is based on the BASE damage of the weapons you use. In other words, I'm levelling in these skill super slowly just because I'm not using higher tier weapons that I otherwise have no reason to use.

Does anyone know of a mod that changes this? Ideally I don't want a mod that's going to change anything else but I'm interested in suggestions.

with papyrusutil and console commands for everyone, you could write a little console alias to call a papyrus function setbasedamage to adjust, but might just be faster to fire up CK/xEdit and tweak this yourself. the former would be better cause you could change skyforge base damage to match the current tier that's "unlocked" for you as you level up, so base becomes 8 becomes 9 becomes 10, etc... writing your own papyrus to do this automatically might take a bit of effort, because you'll need to make a hidden wrapper quest for it that triggers when you level up to check player level and adjust the base damage accordingly... seems basic, but might get more involved, I've never tried it.

or you could clone skyforge weapon entries and make multiple versions, that each have higher base damages to match/exceed the other 10 materials base damage per weapon type, and whatever uniques you can find.

sorry but I don't know of such a mod, but there's lots of people here, maybe someone does. I can't imagine you're the only one who's ever wanted this, but if you get tired of waiting, the editors are free and easily installed! :-)
Skytweak can do this, there is a Mega link for an SE version of this mod posted in the comments of the original mod page. I use Skytweak myself and it works very well.

Once you have it, open the mcm and go to the experience tab and increase the one handed experience rate.

Alternatively, you could download "Training Dummies Provide XP" and level without fighting actual enemies, archery too. This mod also let's you modify how much xp you get per swing, and it does not rely on weapon damage either. If you want to level like using a deadric weapon you could set the base xp yield to 14.

You mentioned attack speed, you are aware all one-handed swords swing at the same speed right? Weapon weight only affects stamina drain when power attacking.
I think he means speed in the 1H exp leveling sense, since a skyforge steel sword is 11, and say a saints/seducers madness sword is 16, would be 45% faster at leveling 1H skill... and he knows he could just use ebony or daedric or whatever, and doesn't want to. :-)

but Rez does have a point about experience modifier mods like Skytweak and others, Balance Your Own Game, Experience Multipliers, and such... same end result, just a different way of dong it; in my example you'd set 1H exp to be 1.45 and skyforge steel would generate the exp of madness... and certainly much easier to do.
Thanks for the suggestions. I was referring to the bow when I mentioned attack speed as I believe the draw speed of a lot of the higher tier bows is terrible.

I'll look into the stuff you've mentioned.

Oh that, yes generally the more powerful a bow the slower it draws, though there are a few exceptions... Skytweak can also edit attack speed.
