However, I second Death's suggestion, don't try to install overhauls midway through. If the game is too hard, lower the difficulty setting.
If it's requiem based then it's gonna be harder than the vanilla game, not exactly what you're looking for
Therefore, I suggest lowering the difficulty level, finish that character, and install magic/skill overhauls for the next one.
If the mod you intend to you use specifically states you need to refund your perks, then find a Mod that does it, or complete Dragonborn for the in-game option if you don't want to make your skills legendary.

bringing over your established 42nd level dovahkiin created while playing a wholly different set of mods, with gawd knows how many completed quests and savebaked data values, is just not something I see going well, but hey, give it a shot if you want to. you tell us how it goes. (though I have a pretty good guess already)
