And I've seen a few other books like this. Anyone know a fix?

I don't have a fix for this because I have not enough info to go on. Mods? Load order? Until someone presents a fix, you can always read all the books online with Skyrim: Books[en.uesp.net].

Are those books added by mods? Because there is a known issue that some characters don’t work when used in Creation Kit causing display bugs.
The mod is called dark brotherhood for good guys. I didn't want to mention that because some fans freak out over the 'good guys' part.

Didn't think about that! Lurbuk's journal is from a mod as it's not part of the base game. Mod conflict? Or maybe bad writing. I have seen it before when authors haven't used the proper book writing format or when I made mistakes myself.

No problem! I just destroy the Dark Brotherhood.

C'mon, man. Don't be "that guy". If you want help, you have to give all of the relevant information.

^^ This

None of us here is "clearvoyant". Provide mods used including load order.

It's most likely mod related. If you look at the mod's page on Nexus, this issues has been reported recently. Just stick to the mod's page and look for help there. The author is still active.

For the Dark brotherhood for Good Guys mod, it doesn't really change anything whether you can read the journal or not. It just gives you a back story reason why killing him may be justified. So you can feel better about the people they want you to kill.

I just gleaned what I could read and didn't worry about the bits I couldn't. I assume several pages have overlaid on each other. Though no idea why or how to solve it.
