Mage Armor perk not triggering for Ebony Flesh [FIXED]
Edit : [Vagrant boot is considered as light armor because of a wrong tag, unofficial skyrim patch fixed this bug. Unequipped because I dont feel like going through another modding rabbit hole again haha]

Purely vanilla , no mods.

Tried with other spell like stoneflesh, it works. but not ebonyflesh.

mage armor 2/3

Stoneflesh when cast - 100 armor
Ebony flesh when cast - still 100 armor (supposedly 250)

If anyone could help me figure a fix would be much appreciated, thank you!

I just tested with the same perks and spells, on a brand new character (also no mods). Seems to work fine.

Without armor:
My initial armor rating is 0.
Stoneflesh gets me up to 150 armor rating
Ebony flesh gets me up to 250 armor rating

With Imperial armor:
My initial armor rating is 27.
Stoneflesh gets me up to 87 armor rating.
Ebony flesh gets me up to 127 armor rating.

What is your character wearing during your experimentation, and what magic effects are listed under "Active Effects" in your magic inventory?

Are you sure you're not wearing armor? Because Mage Armor, as per the description, only kicks in if you don't. This doesn't explain how both spells give have you end at the same value, however.
Mage armor spells always kick in, regardless of physical armor. What doesn't, are the mage armor multiplication perks. They depend on you being unarmored, but you'll still get the base mage armor value.

Neither the spells nor their magic effects are called Mage Armor - obviously I was referring to the Perks. But I removed that part again because the math still doesn't add up, even in that case.
That's how it's supposed to work. The mage armor perk only takes effect if you're not wearing armor. If you wear armor, then the protection spells only increase your armor rating by the base value, without being boosted by the mage armor perk.

Let's check UESP, shall we?
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Armor_(spells)
Stoneflesh has a base armor rating of 60, which means that's what you get if you're wearing armor, or do not have any mage armor perks. WIth 2 ranks, you're supposed to get 120, which means that something's not right. It shouldn't give you 100 armor. Are you sure that you're not wearing any armor? Are there truly no mods or their residue?

Ebonyflesh has a base armor rating of 100, and it seems to adhere to the chart. Except that it ignores your mage armor perks.

each give me two enchantments with destruc / magicka regen / alteration/ and give me magicka points.

my listed effect would the lover's stone

Check the active magic effects tab. Maybe there's something funky going on?

By the way, do you have just the base game, the AE pack, or any other creations?

without vagrant boots

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3468493397

with vagrant boots.

even though there is no tag as light / heavy armor - vagrant boots will nullfiy my mage armor. geez. even the armor is 0
Liero Apr 22 @ 3:43am
†Vagrant Boots are considered Light Armor in the game data, due to the wrong keywords being assigned.
The Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch, version 4.2.8, fixes this bug.

gee lol. Anyway, thank you so much everyone for the help! Unsubscribing this post and leaving this here in case anyone encounter this bug without the USSEP
