Is dark brotherhood for good guys mod buggy?
Dark brotherhood for good guys has no bugs section giving me no good indication of what I would be getting into. Another mod by the same author thieves guild for good guys has 10 pages of reported bugs. It's not looking good. Anyone use the mod I'm talking about?

no clue, to me being an assassin and a "good guy" are fundamentally opposed so I never thought about getting that mod.

I got "Thieves guild alternate routes" instead since Thieves Guild for Good guys was so buggy.

Hope someone else can chime in and provide better advice
how is there possibly a "good guy" outcome for a guild that takes contract kills without question?

from what I understand it doesn't mess with DB contracts, it makes the people you're killing have backstory, and makes them vile and deserving of death, so you don't feel like murderhobo dovahkiin; you're still killing them, but, you know, reasons. a dark avenger, not an immoral psychopath.

"These clues are usually in the forms of notes, letters and journals; some will be laying around and others you will need to pick off of prominent people you encounter, such as perhaps a wedding guest you meet on the road, or even a Steward or a Thalmor official. You never know where they'll turn up, but every clue will give you hints as to the conspiracy that's happening and prepare you for the main contract."

I just completely ignore the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild, but at some point I may just destroy the Dark Brotherhood (and of course kill that horrible Grelod the Kind). I don't even join any side in the Civil War anymore. When I don't join, there just isn't any Civil War, although everybody keeps talking about it.

Thieves' guild for good guys theoretically makes sense, it was what they did in Oblivion after all.

But Assassins' being good guys makes no sense, even in Assassin's Creed they are only good in comparison to the Templars/Order of the Ancients/Cult of Kosmos. They are still taking commissions to assassinate people who are just victims. They are neutral at best rather than good.
You must understand, there is an achievement for doing all the daedric quests. I don't want to be a murderer so there are mods like boethiah for good guys, namira for good guys, etc. Those are by a different modder and they worked. I did not have to do anything bad.

So regardless if it makes sense, what are other options - NOT go for the achievement?!

You don't need a mod, just kill all the cannibals. It's not murder.

Always an option.

well, regardless of anything, you got your answer OP.

"DB for good guys" should work fine.
Yes, thank you all. Also learned how serious tes players are about lore.

What are you actually trying to do?

Do you want to be able to go through the whole DB questline but with some “good guy” context? Or do you just want the gear and such that becomes accessible when doing that questline?

If it’s the latter, you should look at jayserpa’s Innocence Lost and Destroy the Dark Brotherhood Enhanced quest expansion mods.

The first will give you alternative ways to deal with Grelod that don’t require her to be killed (you can get her arrested) or killed by YOU, the second expands the vanilla DtDB quest a little bit and I think it gives you access to some of the DB stuff you wouldn’t normally be able to obtain via the vanilla DtDB quest.

Why would you go for an achievement? Does it give you any reward? Or is it just "look I've got 100% achievements"? Yes, I sometimes go for 100% achievements, but only for games which give me that in a single playthrough, just to know if I have found and did everything I had to do and had to find. To get 100% achievements in Skyrim, you will have to play the game more than once: join the Dark Brotherhood or destroy, join the Imperials or the Stormcloaks.

No, you don't. It join either side of the war and there is no achievement for destroying the DB. Every achievement can be acquired in a single run.

open console. type 'caqs'. crash when ~2500 quests start at once. fire up game again. open console again. type 'caqs' again. shouldn't take more than 3 to 6 times and you'll 100% the game from a fresh newbie install, never having seen Whiterun, not having to mess with steam console to grant yourself singular achievements by the achievementID, one at a time.

what, you think those people with 1.5 hours playtime and 100% achievements did it legitimately? nope. only those who think this crap matters bother to do it that way, the rest exploit what they can, cause they're addicted to seeing 100% award ribbons, not playing the games.

achievements are dumb and if I can ruin them for everyone, I will!
#curmudgeongamer_lives! 😁

but we are waaay off-topic now.

Not always. In some games they lead me to do fun things I wouldn't have thought to try on my own.

There is only one Dark Brotherhood solution for good guys: Kill Astrid when you first meet her, report her death to a guard and then wipe out the whole cult.

Wish I could do the same with the Thieves Guild.
Dark brotherhood for good guys is literally killing the dark brotherhood.

Otherwise the dark brotherhood is definitely not for good guys. You assassinate mostly innocent people because somebody sacrifices somebody and does a demonic ritual.
