Which Elder Scrolls race would have the best/worst cooking?
And why?

While food largely comes down to regional and personal prefernce. I would say Bretons overall have the best food. It's one of the things High Rock is known for.

Worst would probably be Bosmer since those that follow the green pact never cook anything, they eat thier meat raw.

Yeah, this is well established in lore. It's mentioned in the quest to kill the Gourmet.
Worst:
The alessians, which I only know from vigilant se. They eschew free will so their cooking must have zero creativity.

Best:
SPOILER
Maybe the orsimer because The Gourmet from skyrim is an orc who cooks for the emperor. Idk. But considering the content of that quest, maybe whatever race the dragonborn is is the worst at cooking.

If you play as an orsimer the chef you work with will be very surprised. If you play a breton, the chef will comment that it's "almost too obvious".

Worst cooks, maybe the sload....
Best Cooks, Bretons are known as the best cooks, individual cooks from other races might be better than individual Breton cooks, but it's almost guaranteed the best cook in the world is a Breton...
Are lavender dumplings breton? In game the fanciest items come from hearthfire dlc. But what does base skyrim and oblivion have? Rabbit haunch, wolf meat, sjirra's potato bread, apple cabbage stew. Vaguely nondescript items. The steak tartare of catoblepas from the witcher is sounding tasty rn. The sims 4 has more specific food than skyrim's 'goat leg'.

He is an outlier, I image most orcs do not really concern themselves with being good cooks, they have other things in their minds, That said, the Gourmet practiced and trained his craft in High Rock, so technically he is cooking in the Breton way, not the Orc way.

Okay, since we've answered this question, how about the next one:
Which of the races makes for the best cooking?

I'd say a nice and fat imperial would be perfect for a BBQ.
Without a doubt Argonians would have the worst food as they can eat things that'd kill any other race with their poison and disease resistances or at very least make other races very ill

A Bosmer could say unironically of whichever race was on the menu "It tastes like chicken".:lunar2020gigglemonkey:

I have been told alligator tastes a lot like chicken, so part of me wonders if an argonian that's outlived it's usefulness as a farm tool would taste similar...

agreed, with the caveat that Mundus and Nirn are in the same universe... an aquatic cold-blooded quasi-reptilian race biologically designed to eat raw flesh? if you compare them to Mundus reptilians, they don't have traditional taste buds anyway, they have receptors in the roof of their mouths, not on their non-mammalian tongues, called a vomeronasal organ... there's no way they can taste the range of the more "human being" analogue races, but we're working on assumptions here... Beth could say they're the supertasters of ES and make the best chefs and every single one exceeds The Gourmet, both the real one and the would-be assassin one.
um.... can eat doesn't mean does eat.

Argonians can eat stuff that will kill everyone else, but it probably tastes awful...
I personally imagine they probably eat mostly raw fish, which given Sushi prices can't be all bad.

Yes in times of trouble they probably do eat toads and other disgusting things, after all we do... oh and they won't eat insects in the way you are imagining, it's too much energy spent for small reward. They might have some sort of insect trap and deep fry them, like they do in Asia...

The thing is someone somewhere will eat almost anything on Earth, so real world comparisons become unavoidable.
i still have a hot mental image of a busty, seductive Argonian in a maid outfit just snapping out her tounge to get a fly.

maybe even more attractive then serana.
