SKSE download for SE 1.6.640
I'm restarting a complete SE start and I have a query about the download from Silverlock
In the latest version they say you should use for the current SE, which is for the Anniversary version of Skyrim(?), there are 4 folders you need to put into your SE games main file after ditching the txt folders;
Data folder.
src folder.
skse64-1_6_1170.dll.
skse64_loader.exe

But if you look at the download for just 1.6.640 which is the current SE version of Skyrim, there is an extra folder that not in the one above.
skse64_steam_loader.dll

Is this an error on Silverlocks part or is it just a totally superfluous file?

The current SSE version of the game is 1.6.1170. There is no such thing as an AE version - that is just a misnomer that people keep repeating, to the confusion of others.

And it is a bit of the SKSE team just contributing to that confusion for their own self-serving obstinate reasons.

The correct version of SKSE to use for the current version of the game on Steam is:
Current Anniversary Edition build 2.2.6 (game version 1.6.1170)

Just ignore the reference by SKSE to Anniversary Edition (because there is no such thing, there is only a AE DLC) and go by the version number 1.6.1170

Cheers for confirming that.
But can I confirm that extra file - skse64_steam_loader.dll - that's not in the 2.2.6 SKSE download is of zero concequence?

Any files from previous installations of SKSE for different game versions (anything other rhan 1.6.117, in this case) need to be removed or they will cause a CTD. So that extra file should be removed - only install the ones that came with the current SKSE download as per the readme included with the downloaded file.

Yes. I didn't install it.
However, everything is currently working. Only another 300+ mods to download now. :steamsad:
Though it was quite nice to do the original start of the game again. One forgets just how tedious the wagon ride is. But why are there only 4 Empire soldiers (One riding in front. One riding at the back and two driving the wagons!) guarding the captured Stormcloak leader, Ulfric?

Right now there are only another 300+ mods - that has a funny way of increasing as you add them - LOL!

As to the guards. That's one of those questions that have boggled the minds of the wise and the silly, over the years. As they say, only Bethesda knows for sure. :steamhappy:

Anyway, glad all is going smoothly! Enjoy!:steamsunny:
