Skyrim SE for PS4 - will it work on a PS5?
Hi - don't know anything about PSs.... is the PS4 version OK on a PS5? buying for nerphew. thanks.

Um... PS5 plays everything a PS4 will, including Skyrim.
I wouldn't have bought a PS5 if it didn't play PS4 games.

Lets be honest here PS5 has not many PS5 only games to begin with.

The game listing on the PS store is very clear on this, PS4 & PS5. Not to mention that there is some information on using a PS4 disk to get a PS5 version ...

You can't use a PS4 disc to get a PS5 version, only a PS4 version.
Some games give you a free upgrade to the PS5 version if they are digital (The Outer Worlds for one), but that's not the same as disc giving an upgrade.

But once again the PS4 version plays fine on the PS5.

Not as many as there should be given how long the PS5 has been out, fewer still for GOOD games, but there are more than you think... sadly some are digital only (or the discs are so rare as to effectively be digital only.... like BG3).... but still more PS5 games than you initially think.

Ofc it depends of which console is being used. But are you really telling the otherwise? Either you or the store page is not correct.

Really!
I've seen a similar message about upgrading a Digital version, but haven't seen a message for the disc version upgrading.... it's been a while since I ran Skyrim, but that one is new to me.
