Noob question about enchanting
So I'm starting to learn this and want to add some to my weapons. I found a ring that gives 15% dmg increase to one handed attacks.

1. Why would I disenchant the ring and then add it to my axe as opposed to simply wearing the ring?
2. If I learn the enchantment, can I add it to multiple items I'm wearing?
3. If it's on my axe does it run out and need to be recharged?

I don't think you can get that bonus on weapons. It'll only enchant on necklaces, rings, boots and gloves.

Eventually, once you have the perks, you can enchant it better than +15%, too. Not sure how much you can get on bonus damage to one-handed, but I'd wager you can get something like triple that - and with a second enchantment atop it.

Plus, you can have multiple instances of the same enchantment on different items. Let's say +40 each on the four items listed above, as well as each item having a second enchantment effect.

1. It won't. Armour and Clothing enchantments cannot usually go on weapons (There are exceptions on Some things, but the rules for the player are set. Not all A&C Enchantements will go on all A&C either.

2. See my answer above. The easier answer is yes, but again. Some enchantments won't go on all things.

3. You just hit the difference. Weapon Enchantments are designed to be active (they run out). They mostly deal with effects on others. A&C enchantments are passive (always on) and never run out.

In short you want to hold onto that ring UNTIL you are confidant you can make a better (though chances are you will find better in 10-15 levels and then again 10-15 levels from that).

It doesn't matter what +% Ring you disenchant, The one you burn (disenchant) will only affect the skill gain (and not by that much). Your Enchant skill (and Perks) and the effect itself will be the only things effecting the ring you would make.

Looking at the wiki, with 0 skill and no perks Fortify One-Handed would result in +13% damage. That ring is equivelant to someone with ~60 enchanting skill and no perks making it with a grand soul gem. So you'll probably find better pretty soon - I've seen +30 and +40 on equipment, and it looks like the best you can make without potion or abuse is +40. With a good potion but no resto loop abuse, +47.

Its not compatible with going on the weapon directly.

You can indeed.

Any enchant on weapons will eventually run out of charge, unless you have the correct cost reductions for its related enchantment.

An additional point, is unless you are already heavily invested into the enchanting tree, odds are you won't be able to equal the 15% the ring gives through your own enchanting. So you might want to hold off on disenchanting the ring until find one of higher %, or on an armor type you won't be using at all.
