Mining Question
So I just got back into Skyrim after however many years and while I dominated the game in the past, after playing a bajillion other games, I only have partial knowledge left.

I remember mine canceling, or rather initiating mining and canceling after each ore, with the express purpose of making sure you got the maximum 3 ore.

Is that still a thing? Was that ever a thing? Was that just an old wive's tale?

Granted, I recognize you can just dual wield pick axes and attack or whatever but I just wanted to verify the thing once and for all.

Usual issue is that veins might give more ore than expected - or additional firewood. Lacking mines sounds like conflict between mods, or severe script lag.

You dont need to cancel after each ore to get 3. That happens regardless of mining style.

You still get 3 ore. There is just a display bug where it doesn't pop up the notification for the 2nd ore.

A friend was saying we used to do this to try and get an extra ore? Does this sound right?

Why bother? Really? Veins will reset when area does. Unless you are constantly marching around the same area, then you should have more than enough ores available.

Manual mining works in first person, too. Can dual wield mining picks or use other tricks involving dual wield to speed that up.

No. It has always been that you get 3 ore, but only 2 messages. This is not a bug - the system doesn't show repeat messages if they occur too quickly. If it is a different message, such as finding a gem, it displays as normal. You just won't get that second message about getting ore. You still get the sound effect, but no message.

Mining Clay and Quarried Stone gives even less messages. I didn't pay attention and had about 40 both in my inventory.
