You ever tried to use one of those 'mod packs'? What a wild ride.
The 200gb+ install ones? I just went down that rabbit hole yesterday with "Tempus Maledictum", got everything set up and an 'installation complete' greenlight.

Load it up and enter a Skyrim that looks absolutely horrific with a dozen different artstyles and texture resolutions all clashing under a bizarre enb shader setting that resembles a night club more than a nordic wilderness.

The performance was bewilderingly bad, we're talking 5-10fps looking into the distance, 15fps in cities. This is on a rig that runs Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p ultra 120fps smooth as butter. That's crazy. That's totally wild, right?

So basically, I'm here to vent and ask any of you if you've done the same thing and are wondering just who and what these types of packs are for. IMO it looked awful, way worse than even default ancient skyrim graphics which actually have their charm.

IDK what I was expecting, maybe something Enderal level by combining 2000(??!)+ mods, but what I got was clambake schizo circus of conflicting styles and ideas. Just wild to me. OFC the guy asks for patreon money at the end of the whole process, which was just icing on the cake.

Never I mean if something goes wrong I have to spent days to troubleshoot if I make a build myself I know what's in there. Point of a modpack is that have to take what another provides for you you don't have really a say in what is blasted on your ssd

Say what? My game is quite well modded. My MO2 Mods folder is 62,9 GB at the moment.

That size sounds like someone put 4K textures for splinters.

Nolvus Awakening is in beta now I think it's the best by far

People don't understand that 8k textures and low poly meshes just don't mix, story as old as Minecraft with HD sprite sheets.

I made my own. Currently around 70 mods installed.

Every single mod pack is crap. They're all tailored to the creator's wants and needs. If they suit others then great.

But for those that have played Skyrim for a long time we know what we want changing and what should be left alone. Therefore we create our own mod lists.

The only mod pack that I have ever used was one that re-installed the foundational frameworks for a play through rather than spend time installing each one individually.

It's a crash o matic right now. I managed to get to level 32 on one play through before it crapped out.

They're all ♥♥♥♥♥. Honestly they are.

Just make your own over time.

Good rule of thumb for modding games is trying the individual mods yourself and build up a list you like. Also if your using a lot of mods use something like mo2(mod organizer 2 with loot plugin). I personally seen a mod collection that has over 4000+ different mods(500 gig+) mind you they uses software that combines mods because there's a limit even on the PC. The risk of conflicts gets higher the more mods used in these collections. and a collection isn't accounting for any individual mods you use outside its scope. so if you use a collection I wouldn't install any mods separately or you risk ruining your save.

Most people will never have the ability to make a list as expansive as something like Lorerim. Most people here barely understand how to install mods, let alone even basic CK editing like fixing landscape seams.

I don't use mod packs myself as I learned how to mod the game myself. It's a learning curve everyone has to walk over. It is not for everyone, so I do understand that some people are downloading mod packs to give a different twist to this game. However, as with regular mods, people have to check what a mod pack is offering. Or read the comments. If the description is not detailed, or comments aren't recent / detailed, it's a risk to use that mod (pack).

I took time to look up on the mod pack itself, this is a copy from the description. These are red flags for me.
Tempus Maledictum is what one would describe as a "kitchen sink list." There is no specific focus or aspect I really care about. There is no set goal I'm trying to achieve. I just want to have fun.

This means if I like a mod, it's going in. There is no such thing as "it doesn't fit my aesthetic" or "it goes against the theme of the list." The theme is fun.

This list is NOT built with Survival Mode in mind. I don't play it. I don't like it. If you choose to play Tempus in Survival difficulty, I don't know if any issues may arise from that, and it is unlikely I can help with such issues.

I also took time to the mods in use, it's an EnaiRim-Requiem combo with lots of new content, enhancements, especially in the meshes/textures alley. That mod pack is certainly not for potato PC's.

The above is my main reason why I don't like Wabbajack. It is not so informative on what a mod pack does and if you want further information, you have to hop on Discord. I prefer people using Nexus Collections, of which has more transparency.

that neon disco thing I don't get either, so many ENB presets are that way, it's a side effect of 14 yr olds being bought HDR12/10 monitors I think... everything must be oversaturated, highly contrasty, and bright enough you need to wear sunglasses if you have an OLED panel. Skyrim: CandyCrush Edition. don't want it, don't understand why others do. just one of those things.

But being upset ENB cranked up steals over half your performance, you didn't read up on this before installing it did you?

> clambake schizo circus

if I ever make a modlist, I'm stealing that. I'll give you credit. :devilskiss:

i run close to 500 mods plus over 10,000 FNIS animations with no problem...its taken a little while to get everything working and compatible to what i want , but i get more satisfaction from it than using someone elses idea of how the game should be.
