Question about joining factions
I've got a few quests here suggesting a join some factions. Does joining one kick me out of another?

For example I'm doing stuff for the Companions but I have a quest for Darkguard. If I go see the Darguard will I lose my standing with the Companions?

And I'm pretty sure I can't join both the Imperial and the Stormcloaks.

There are only two sets of factions that prevent joining another.

There's the Stormcloaks & Imperials, for obvious reasons.

There is also another pairing, that can't co-exist for obvious reasons. I won't spoil the factions for you, but the related questline does make it obvious before you can pick one of the two factions.

Edit: You can be all the other factions simultaneously, its just the two sets that are mutually exclusive.

The factions you can’t be on both sides are mainly story related factions.

But if it’s any of the optional factions the only ones you can’t join both are the dawnguard and the vampires.

Hell the thieves guild can find out you’re in the dark brotherhood and they’ll be completely fine with it which doesn’t make sense since the thieves guild are supposed to be opposed to using violence to accomplish their goals.

The Thieves Guild aren't morally opposed to violence, it's just bad for business. They couldn't care less what you do on your own time. Delvin has an ongoing business relationship with them, why would things suddenly change if he learns you're associating with both groups as well?

You can join any faction in the game except in the dawnguard dlc where you can only join one or the other dawnguard or the voilkhar vampires and in the battle for skyrim questline where you can only join stormcloaks or imperials and morrowind I think has a feature like this where you can only join a limited amount of factions but in skyrim you can join as many as you want except in battle for skyrim and dawnguard dlc.

In Morrowind, you could join all the factions as well (except for the noble houses, which was limited to one). However, some of the quests involved actions that would get you kicked out of another faction should you be a member.

In addition to the Dawnguard/Vampire and Imperial/Stormcloak choice, there is a choice between joining the Dark Brotherhood or turning them in. (Remember, Astrid tells you to kill someone in the room. There are 4 possible targets in the room). Not really the same thing, as there is no other faction to join.

Thanks for telling me this and for the dark brotherhood destroy the dark brotherhood I knew about that but I just forgot about it or felt like I didn't need to mention it here.

Not without mods, anyway.
