No option to make or buy lumber
Fancied another playthrough so just bought the anniversary dlc.
Started playing, however I am not being given any option to either buy lumber or use a mill to get lumber, I am have the goldenhills plantations, could not get wood at any sawmill, so I hired a steward, while I could pay for the rooms in the house, the steward has no option to buy resources and the owners of the lumber mills have no option to purchase lumber. If I use a mill it goes through the animations, however I get no lumber.

I assumed it might have been a bug with hearthfire so I became thane of falkreath and bought a plot of land, however I still no option to buy or create lumber.

I am now thinking maybe getting goldenhills first before any hearthfire houses maybe caused the bug?

Regardless any ideas on how to get lumber? or what could be causing it.

Yeah you got a bug.
Aside from official DLC, what mods do you have installed? And are you using the Script Extender?

Thank you for the quick reply, no other mods, did a clean install of the anniversay edition.

However I just built the foundations for the falkreath house and now its giving me the option to buy lumber now.....so odd.

Weird. This game has all kinds of little ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and nuances. I just did something new yesterday and I got thousands of hours of playtime in.

You do realize that Goldenhills does not require any 'lumber'. It uses firewood for building.

Now, why you cannot purchase lumber after owning Lakeview is another matter.

Yep, I just thought that maybe some weird bug hiring a steward for goldnehills might have cause a bug or something, I did a lot before I discovered the bug.

However as I say building the foundation for Lakeview seems to have fixed it.
this is happenin to me to as well.....oly mods i have paid for is all im using
Just a speculative guess. The trigger for the Dialogue being available is buying a piece of property (one of the Original 3 HF homes) and starting the build (needing something that requires lumber). Sounds like the GH Property doesn't qualify.

I will be honest, doing anything quest related in the CK was very confusing when I tried it (even with a video tutorial playing every step of the way). I gave up on creating a quest and Dialogue in general when doing personal mods.
I just bought Anise;s Cabin build a new home and theres no option to buy lumber...the mod is made out to be a beginners home...so i thought that was cool then i run into this...hope it gets fixed.......to me the hearthfire homes are an advanced home compared to a lil cabin so now i got to go get lakeview but why mes with the anises home then
The issue is, the mod maker didn't take it into account. I mean...that's the crux of the problem. You would have to ask them.

I would rephrase it more as a request though. Maybe explain the issue and ask them if they could include a similar means to the HF Homes to trigger the Dialogue.

This MIGHT cause issues though, if they duplicate one of the quest stages instead of just adding a new one that ties into the same functions. Hopefully they know enough not to do it. Like I said, I tapped out of doing Quests and Dialogue after 2 frustrating tries. No patience for it.

I noticed that my Hearthfire home stewards lacked the option to repurchase chickens, and until I repeated visiting a couple times I could not purchase a cow I slaughtered either. The cow purchase restored after a few visits, but the chicken purchase has not and their bodies still lie in the pen beside the house and will not clear out. I wonder if something is breaking for many of us at the same time. Even here, I am only using creation club content as extra. (which i suspect broke and tangled up more and more as time goes on. Even with fallout since they gummed it)
