yep it's a bit back there's a small graveyard to the left and right and the entrance is 1 stairs down

It is near the Whiterun temple if you go on local map on the map it will show you the names of each building in Whiterun you need to stand in Whiterun and actitavte local map.

As you enter whiterun, go up the stairs to the left, then look for some stairs that go underground a bit further on, that's the Hall of the Dead.
