My personal problems with Inigo and Lucien.
So here's the thing. After hearing so many praises about Inigo and Lucien, I decided to try them out in my final playthrough. And must I say how much I hated this decision? They both break my immersion so much with their endless blabbering and drive me on the verge of insanity. Sure, I understand that there was a lot of hard work done; I can clearly see that. But they both feel out of place in the game. Am I the only one? Or if not, how do you bring life to already existing followers? :CutePaw:

I like Inigo and don't feel that he is out of place. His storyline just is unfinished, so we don't know what shenanigans play behind the character.

If his talking bothers you: there was an Amulet of Muffled Voices in the cell. That reduces his talking notably. His personal menu also has options for talking frequency.

I had to let Lucien go. He talks way too much. He is also an android who never sleeps. Other intelligent NPCs still can sleep while relaxing. Mods can even assign them bed, just as long the location is not assigned as "home." For some reason this is not true with Lucien, making him feel very weird among other followers.

I must like punishment, because Remiel is doing her first proper appearance in my game. She babbles a lot. Inigo and Lucien sound like mute in comparison. There is a good chance that I will just tactically forget her in Explorers Society upstairs.

Remiel has a lot of voice lines with other characters. I don't have any installed, because she doesn't have proper lines with Inigo (who is a staple in my games.) She does have voice lines with Serana through SDA. I only installed SDA to see how that works. Interesting part is that she has threeway conversations with Redcap and Xeltzaz, but I already had enough of Xelzaz two years ago.

Inigo by himself is fine, though it feels like his character is built around worshiping a version of the PC that's in his head. Lucien is also fine by himself. Neither talks all that much when alone, and they have a lot of things to say - Inigo much more so than Lucien. Put them together and they get real talkative and twice as silly, which is fun at first but there's only so many times you can hear Ragnar the Bread before going crazy.

Yeah. Inigo is a bit goofy. I would love to know what author had planned for him.

Lucien's problem is his constant greetings. You let him relax, say, in museum and he starts to babble each time you walk by. That gets old really fast.

Inigo mostly stays silent while relaxing, unless you actually speak to him.

This hero-worshiping of his is really aggravating, to be honest. And yes, this particular song is driving me crazy. So I've already decided to use only Lucien alone, at least for some time before I part ways with him too.

The thing is, they're both goofy/silly. And when I said something about them feeling out of place, I meant that they interact way too much in comparison with the game. It breaks Skyrim's atmosphere and feeling of the game, at least for me. This silliness of theirs is too obvious when the game itself is a bit dark and gloomy. And dear god, these four breaking remarks are just a cherry on top.

Anyway, where is another comment? Hope he wasn't banned or something. :TalismanDwarf:
Imagine you're in a relationship with, for instance, two females. Abby and Brenda.
Both girls are great and you love them to pieces. But Abby doesn't know about Brenda and Brenda doesn't know about Abby.
While they've never met, it's great. It's peaceful, restful and you don't have to worry.
Now imagine they've met up for the first time and the problems that'll ensue once they know that you know each of them... Extensively!!
That's Inigo and Lucien in a nut shell.
Separately, they're great. And, in my opinion, that's the best way to keep them. Apart.
But of the two, I'd take Inigo over Lucien everyday of the week. He's more down to earth and has greater worries than the mysteries of Dwemer architecture. Sweet Rolls, Mr. Dragonfly, fleas....

I chose Inigo as well. Now I have Remiel to deal with Dwemer stuff and talk my ears off. :Owlcat_sleepless:

Out of two, I like Lucien as a concept. Don't know why, maybe because I love to have my personal apprentice in the game. It's rare that games allow something like this. I hated his guts at first, but he warmed me up a bit.

The story was like this: I RP as a Dunmer from the house of Hlaalu who's come to Skyrim from Cyrodill seeking fortune and glory. So it was logical to bring Lucien with her. After some time they teamed up with Inigo in Riften. But he was so damn OP! Not to mention that they both started to aggravate and drive her mad with their chatting, so she dumped them in Breezehome with Lydia while she joined her forces with Jenassa instead. But there was something missing. As if she felt empty inside without them. And so she returned back to bring them both back. Jenassa wasn't happy about it, as she despised them all. I think this is the reason she doesn't even acknowledge their existence.

So we travel together now as a band of mercenaries. Inigo and Lucien babbling some nonsense. She's rolling her eyes. Meanwhile, Jenassa is desperately trying to hold herself and not spill their blood. The time will tell what happens next... :dos2skull:
