Parallax and DynDOLOD how to's
Where can I find good and clear instructions for how to use parallax and dyndolod?

I've googled, as best that an autistically challenged can.

Thanks!

Just to add a note, Community Shaders is not compatible with ENB , this text is from the mod page:
"Not compatible with ENB. This mod disables all features if ENB is present, otherwise the game will crash.

Not compatible with Shader Tools (Parallax Fix, ShaderTools Updated). Delete SSEShaderTools.dll and ShaderTools.dll.

Included and therefore redundant: Sky Reflection Fix."

I'm currently building a new playthrough using CS and PBR. It needs tweaking but is looking pretty amazing. For a brilliant retexture mod, check this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/134352. That's all I use as a base and let CS and Re-Shade do the rest. I had some retexture mods for architecture but they looked 'plastic' with PBR. I disabled them and it all came to life.
Gotta admit my mistake and correct myself here

I just disabled Community shaders and game looks somehow better now only with the ENB and reshade combo

Altho' I never had a CTD or other any visual problems because of it .

Thank You Johanis

Does PBR work with ENB or just CS?

You need Parallaxgen for them to work with the ENB
here :
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/120946

After You have installed Textures and their Parallax mappings , download and extract ParallaxGen anywhere

Disable DyndolodOutput and TexGenOupt files on your manager temporarily

Launch ParallaxGen.exe , select skyrim SE and make sure the correct game folder path is addressed under the location option

Select the mod manager of your choice Under the Conflict Resolution Mod Manager option

Select Show Advanced Options

Make sure these are all ticked off
- Parllax
- Complex Material
- True PBR

then click Start Patching , it takes a few moment and at the end when it shows the progress is completed , press Enter to close it

Now You should Have New folder in the ParallaxGen folder called ParallaxGen_Output
there must be a zip file in there , install it as a new mod , let it overwrite everything else
re-enable DyndolodOutpu and TexGenOutput

then You should be ok .

Just CS. There is a list of mods to install on the CS instruction page. They will all appear in the CS interface accessed in game by pressing 'end' key (this can be changed in game too) It's well worth a look. I was always an ENB man but this has changed my mind!
I prefer community shaders at this point the update drop a few days ago puts it mostly in line with ENB but with less technical issues. Next major update whenever that happens will probably be final nail in coffin for enb.

If I were to go the CS route, how would I begin and where would I go to fully understand it?

I personally wouldn't switch to community shaders at this point but not because I think it's a bad option , I simply have a big load order already set up with 370 GB of mods, which a lot of them are tweaked and patched to work with the enb , don't know how many things would go wrong and should be fixed If switch to community shaders rn .
I would like to try community shaders maybe in next 2 years when I am returning to the game with a fresh install and a new mod list .
I'm starting my LO now, would I suggest that I go the CS route?

I have no first hand exprience with it yet so I wouldn't be a good judge , on the another hand : ENB is currently a complete package and fully functional , unlike Community Shaders You wouldn't have to keep an eye for future plans and releases , so I guess that still counts as a con for CS .
Biggest let down of ENB is its performance hit , and yet You have a really powerful machine and It shouldn't be a problem for you . not to mention that there are some performance friendly ENB presets like Vanilla plus that I have mentioned .

This is spot on, ENB is tried and tested while some new CS updates are literally a week old and being developed as I type. The results so far are pretty impressive but, as mentioned above, you'd need to keep an eye on updates and tweaks.

If you're building a new LO now, I'd suggest installing it, have a play around with a couple of test saves and see if it's for you. Just follow the instructions and you can't go wrong. You always have the option to uninstall and use ENB instead before your LO gets too big.

Just to clarify this a bit.

Hit from ENB depends 100% of it's configuration. Base ENB pack provides no performance hit, what so ever. In fact, it's tweaks can be beneficial for the game and it's performance.

Resource hungry configurations and (often completely pointless and overshot) dependencies are the ones causing performance problems in games.

Even with beefy computers (like my own), avoiding all screenshot candy presets is always a good idea. With ENBs, I would mostly just focus on getting base lights and weathers correct and then look in to other solutions to make it brilliant.

Tweaked Intrigued ENB with Obsidian weathers, ELFX and ELFX Shadows.

What do you mean by this? How does one go about "correcting" them? What brilliant solutions do yo mean?

Why do you prefer ELFX over Lux?

Thank you

I did not mean correcting ENB, but to select preset that has weather and base lights correct for you - without extra nonsense.

Light coming from windows is caused by ELFX Shadows, not ENB preset.

I built my game around Obsidian weathers. Preset was picked based on that, performance, compatibility with ELFX and my laziness to edit Night Eye fix in to other preset. :LaughingOwlcat:

I simply prefer ELFX and ELFX Shadows over Lux. There is no more complex reason than that.

Ok... So... This parallax thing is driving me nuts! I'm trying to get Majestic Mountains, Atlantean Landscape, Snoblind (or Better Dynamic Snow) to work. But they just don't. I can get AL to work well enough, but footsteps kinda glow... kinda... and the snow mountains either glow, or are completely grey. I've tried the regular MM and I've tried the MM Complex Material one. I'm also trying to use the 8k textures for each of the moutain options... But, if it isn't one thing, it's another. I just can't seem to get them dialed in. Please help!
