Mandatory CC Content without buying Anniversary Edition
I have the Special Edition, never purchased the Anniversary Edition. However, my game is now stuck with these seemingly unremoveable creation club content (Saints and Seducers, Rare Curios, etc) that I do not want. I thought that content was only free with AE, or was I mistaken?

Came with a game update, cant be removed without screwing up your game while the update is installed.

AE is a dlc and a bundle for all the CC content, the update gave everyone 4 free ones, whether you wanted them or not.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to revert to a previous update

Maybe they can be disabled with Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex?

Afaik, it cannot safely be removed without unpredictable side effects (and I also resent that BGS foisted this mediocrity on us without a built-in way to disable it). However, speaking from personal experience maintaining and continuing to add mods to a 1.5.97 build is a pain in the neck.

You were mistaken, they were added as part of an update.
They can't be safely removed, which is to say you can theoretically remove them, but there is a random chance of removing them messing up the game....

You're best option is to update your mods, and continue on.... also look up how to prevent updates, otherwise you will have problems every time there is an update.

Don't remove them as others have correctly pointed out they are part of the base game.

Bethesda Celebrated Skyrim's 10th Anniversary by giving those 4 CC Mods Free as part of the base game. But it remains Skyrim Special Edition.

And as others have also pointed out the "Anniversary DLC" is separate just like any other DLC.

I wouldn't. Most of the mods are now being made for the latest game version and mods like the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch only offer 1 supported version which is for the latest game version. Some other mods do the same.

Those 4 mods don't bother anything.

Fishing is just extra activity that you can ignore. It has a ques, if you start it, but you don't have to.

You can completely ignore Survival, if you do not want to use it's features. If you activated it, then it can be turned off from settings.

Rare curios is basically just ingredient addon. More options to craft stuff isn't a bad thing. It merges in to game, without you even knowing it is there.

Saints and Seducers is the only creation that has effect in your game. It doesn't really bother you either. Mod just includes new set of enemies and gear to specific locations, giving some variance to usual enemies you need to beat through the game. Adding some color among bandits, necromancers and dragur isn't a bad thing at all.

In short: I do not see why these creations would be annoyance to anyone, when content in three of them is completely optional or merges in to the game, and fourth one just ads to enemies in certain locations.

Just keep them. There is no reason to downgrade. All an all, you will be just cutting few more Altmer heads than before.

Fishing and Saints & Seducers can be a problem, if you are the kind of person who like to keep an empty quest section in your journal. Both have automatic starts. S&S is a rumor, if I remember right. For Fishing, just going to the Riften docks will cause it to start.

Both also make changes in the world itself, which may interfere with some older mods that place things in those locations.

While I don't personally have a problem with any of that, I can see some people not liking it being forced onto them.

The other problem with Fishing is that bathing mods need a patch. That said, I think all popular bathing mods already have patch available, so that fishing zones do not prevent people from washing up in stream or lake.

They all have an effect, and they can all be easily ignored if one doesn't wish to engage. Though I see little point in trying to actively avoid free game content added in a free update.

Plenty of vanilla content does. A clean journal is pretty much impossible.

Saints and Seducers can be a minor problem, members of the Khajiit Caravans can die from Bandit attacks, but it adds so many bits that it is worth it in my opinion..... such as new armour and weapons (got to love an Amber greatsword)

I went to mods folder and removed them, caused no issues at all.
BUT I don’t know about the version because….
I used “way back mod” so I am using 1.5 version of Skyrim, just my preference.
It is possible if you don’t have access to some old mod versions, your stuck with 1.6
If so never mind.

I did the same, but I only removed Rare Curios and Saints and Seducers. I've put about ten hours in so far, and no problems yet.
