Best Potion/Poison formula?
So, fellow alchemists of Tamriel, what kind of concoction have you come up with or have used due to popular demand? I've been meaning to strike this conversation quite a while now but quickly lost interest. Now that I'm re-enjoying Skyrim again and got back to Alchemy, I remembered to make this discussion, so here I am. What is your favorite potion/poison mixture and what does it do? Mine is Imp Stool, Skeever Tail and Scathecraw! This is practically cyanide. it even tops the poison used to assassinate the Emperor! Nothing does the job quite well than a poison that does instant damage, damage over time, and reduces the victim's max hp!

A couple more tipples for duelling Mages. probably best taken together in two large gulps:

Milk Drink 1:
(Increased Destruction spell damage for 60sec, Resist Shock for 60sec:)
Ectoplasm + Glow Dust + Snowberries

Milk Drink 2:
(Resist Magic 60sec, Increased Magicka reserves 60sec)
Lavender + Tundra Cotton + Jazbay Grapes

-------

When these fail you, then quickly down 'Potion Plan B' and keep running:
(Invisibility 127sec, Health Regeneration increase 300sec)
Ash Creep Cluster + Nordic Barnacle + Vampire Dust

Ooh, that last one is a personal favorite, I usually simplify it to Vampire Dust and Lunar Moth Wings.

people seem to love the paralysis, all fun and games but I think it's subpar and weak.

wait, need to check the ingredients again, be back in a sec

Remembered:

Imp Stool + Slaughterfish (scales nor eggs, doesn't matter) + Canis Root/Human Flesh = Paralysis poison of doom

River Betty + Deathbell + Crimson Nirnroot = Damage Health of Obliteration + Slow (guy can't reach you)

Alternate between these two poisons and nobody can ever hit you

I use CACO (Complete Alchemy blablabla Overhaul) and they've ruined 90% of the staple recipes to add needless ingredients and some counter-intuitive changes to effects, so I'm re-learning how to alchemy by not using alchemy at all (lol). Seriously, I'm not even sure why am I using that mod tbh, I think it's due to laziness from having to start a new save, but I'll be honest, even though that mod sounds rock on in paper, I'm not actually liking it in-game, doesn't integrate very well with other mods, the only good thing are the new food effects tbh.

If you ever get back to vanilla alchemy, feel free to try Skeever Tail, Imp Stool and Scathecraw. You won't need paralysis if they drop dead instantly or are at Death's door.

You've missed the point, the Paralysis Poison of Doom does lingering health dmg, when you are perked into alchemy, that means you paralyse the guy and watch him die suffering unable to do anything about it.

The other combo I've talked about is the strongest poison + slow possible without Jarrin Root, it's either a insta kill or pretty close to it. If you are an archer and use it, that means the guy is in a bad position...

I also used to know a advanced alch combo (requires perks to do properly) that gave paralysis with ravage health... Ridiculously strong, but I can't remember it. Once I had a build that was about killing dragons with poison due to the annoying vanilla "forever flying" dragon AI... Used ravage health comboed with weakness to poison poisons.

Nonono, YOU missed the point. My combo has Ravage, Damage and Lingering Damage health. No point in needing to paralyze them if you can watch them drop like flies. And with a manor, you can practically make an infinite amount of these, and skeever tails are easy to get.

but you've failed in torturing the guy, that's the point of Paralysis of Doom - Watching them suffer

A couple more concoctions, but with less permanent effects:

Burglar's Boot Grease
(Fortify Sneak 60sec, Fortify Lockpick 30sec)
F;almer Ear + Purple Mountain Flowers + Ashen Grass Pod

Nudist Sherpa Tonic
(Fortify Carry 300sec, Extend Alteration spell duration +130%. Restore Magicka)
Creep Cluster + River Betty + Grass Pod

I took the liberty of summarising these recipes in Steam guide. IPs acknowledged where possible.

Well… torture is pretty fun, not gonna lie.

Leveling Alchemy

Fortify Fire Resist, Two Hand, Illusion, and Stamina.
Dragon Tongue, Fly amanrita, Moira Tapella

It gives 4 buffs and is the highest value potion you can create (that I know of.)

With enchanted alchemy gear you can do an entire legendary level of alchemy with like 35 of these potions.

Here's the effect durations on that one. (Not sure if there's any way to determine to experience point gain per action in this game).

+Stamina Regen for 300 sec,
+Two-handed damage for 60 sec,
+Illusion spell strength for 60 sec,
+Resist Fire for 60 sec

impressive potion, and makes me think 2H warrior-illusionist might be fun to play.

2-Handed, Illusion and Sneak was in fact my very first skyrim build and it’s hilariously fun. Now, to level up alchemy, I go for

Salmon Roe, Garlic, Nordic Barnacle

This gets you crazy values, even on Alchemy 15.

Salmon Roe seems like a real chore to collect. Maybe I doing it wrong.

Take a trip down Riverwood to Whiterun, following the river. Pay attention to the small, angled waterfalls, and you’ll see jumping salmons. You have to catch those to get the roe. That, or build the mansion by Morthal and Solitude. There is an exclusive fishery there for you to farm Salmon meat/roe, slaughter fish scales/eggs, and the other smaller fishes. Catching Salmon that are chilling in water don’t give you their roe (except the ones from the fishery). If you follow the river from Riverwood to Whiterun, you could get 11+ Roes, maybe up to 30 if you’re lucky.
