SkyUI error code 1 fix?
I've downloaded the SkyUI mod along with SkyHub and Nordic UI but for some reason whenever I start the game I receive the notification 'SkyUI error code 1'. It tells my I don't have SKSE downloaded even though I do have it downloaded for Vortex and the Steam installation. Any fixes you guys can propose?

Install and launch SKSE properly following the instructions on its site

did you installed skse64 right? extract and put it's folders and files into your main skyrim se folder? then add the skse64 shortcut launcher to vortex? Launch skse64 shortcut.

Error Code 1: The Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) is not running.
solution; re-install SKSE

my question would be which method did you use to install SKSE64?
100% Manual?
1/2 manual 1/2 mod manager?
Did you let Vortex completely install SKSE64 by selecting the Vortex SKSE64 notification?

I'd go with the latter because not only will Vortex install everything correctly but it will not allow you to choose the wrong version. Both are crucial to Script Extender running properly.

Either that or reinstall SkyUI. or both SkyUI and SKSE64.

I believe when you install SKSE through Vortex then you will also have to start the game through Vortex.

I prefer the manual installation and then put a link onto the desktop for skse64_launcher.exe

SKSE is not a mod like others, but it is a loader, which needs to be run instead of the normal game launcher so that it activates. Without this will SKSE not be running.

You don't have to start the game through Vortex. You can run the game with the skse64_loader just like you do with a manual install

Yeah it's not mandatory to start the game through Vortex. The important thing is that you start the game thru SKSE64. I launch thru Vortex because I'm often in Vortex anyway but a desktop shortcut works just as well.

Matter of fact if you are going to start it thru Vortex make sure SKSE64 is set as "Primary" iin the Vortex Tools section.

If you are using an ultrawide monitor then there is a fix for SkyUI. Not sure why your crosshair would go off center though. Is anything unusual about your setup, like multiple monitors, ultrawide, mods that modify the UI, ...?

I think I've identified the issue, I had a mod called 'Combat Gameplay Overhaul' that would mess things up a bit.
If anyone is having this issue in 2025, the issue I encountered was I wasn't copying the files in the Data/Scripts folder in SKSE. That immediately fixed this issue for me. Hopefully this helps someone.

Installing xSE manually is quite straightforward: unpack archive to game root folder.
Done.

THIS. Thankyou so much for this. Reading skse guide note didnt mention about copying and pasting the data folder in skyrim directory (or idk im too dumb). This helped me solve the issue.
