solution; re-install SKSE
my question would be which method did you use to install SKSE64?
100% Manual?
1/2 manual 1/2 mod manager?
Did you let Vortex completely install SKSE64 by selecting the Vortex SKSE64 notification?
I'd go with the latter because not only will Vortex install everything correctly but it will not allow you to choose the wrong version. Both are crucial to Script Extender running properly.
Either that or reinstall SkyUI. or both SkyUI and SKSE64.
I prefer the manual installation and then put a link onto the desktop for skse64_launcher.exe
SKSE is not a mod like others, but it is a loader, which needs to be run instead of the normal game launcher so that it activates. Without this will SKSE not be running.
You don't have to start the game through Vortex. You can run the game with the skse64_loader just like you do with a manual install
Matter of fact if you are going to start it thru Vortex make sure SKSE64 is set as "Primary" iin the Vortex Tools section.
Installing xSE manually is quite straightforward: unpack archive to game root folder.
Done.
