Where did you get your Muffle Enchantments?
I am playing as a warrior and a good guy. He tries to do heroic things. Sneaking around framing people and conniving my way through them game is counter to my character. At the same time I have just about all enchantments but muffle. Though I won't be using it for pickpocketing or murdering innocent people. I may hunt or take out the odd bad guy from surprise when needed.

So I want to skip all the hoops I would have to jump through to get the earned merchant in under Riften with a higher chance to sell you muffled boots. What I need to know has anyone gotten disenchantable muffle boots from a merchant other that thieves guild or dark botherhood related ones. Or ones that require you to do missions for them.

I just want to be able to walk around a little quieter without being Nocturnal's little biotch. And the way I read it was only some shops that have enchanted apparel can have muffle. It would be helpful if anyone could add to a list of shops that have sold them.

Thank you for your time.

Any merchant which sells enchanted armor has a chance to spawn some boots of muffling.

Last time being a high level (at least 100) I've got some boots from smith in Solitude. I think that I have checked like 20 merchants or so. So it was not that hard as described in the wiki. Or may be I was just extremly lucky.

Your probably lucky on one charter I didn't find muffle even after 73 levels.

I did give up after a while though, once you have the perks you can silent without them.

@OP: Is the spell not an option, you're kinda already breaking the warrior trope by using sneak.

My character is mostly a warrior but fine with some options on the side. If for nothing else collecting. I have various suits sort of like a batman or iron man thing. And though muffle would not be my primary thing, hunting or stealth sniping is still in my scope. Just not picking pockets to make my fortune or assassinating. Or if I have to pick a pocket of a bad guy to get warrior gear I want stealth my own stealth gear to do most of the stealth stuff for me instead of leveling up my build around it.

So I do not feel like I am breaking a warrior trope by wanting muffle enchantment, just expanding a collection and making some options. I want the muffle to maximize my stealth suit. So I don't have to be crazy stealth on my own. Casting a spell to keep up the effect doesn't quite fit into my goals. Even if I were a stealth character I would not be happy with just the spell or the enchantment, but both. I would be pretty thorough with that character. From all stealth spells and shouts down to buying the darkest clothes even. And though they were focused on stealth I would still make a magic suit for nothing else to increase my Illusion spells to help with stealth.

Thanks. Maybe I'll get lucky there. I've been trying Whiterun from the blacksmith sellers next to each other, and stockpiling crafting matetials while I was at the check and wait. I have enough to legendary Smithing again I think. But maybe Solitude will be a luckier spot.

Son of a gun! I shoulda looked for it since I started. Not waited until I was level 50 something.

Am I to understand if I enchant only clothes for sneaking instead of armor that I won't need muffle anyways?

The players footsteps still make noise, it's not just the armor, though it does have a greater effect.

I have another suggestion if the spell doesn't work for you. These boots provide 100% muffle and are a static item, the only issue is they cannot be disenchnated, but you would still have some boots for it.

You can you those in between your search for disenchantable boots.

I cannot find disenchantable ones that was my other choice. I rename things when disencahnting to make my suit pieces of a set appear next to each other in my inventory. I also use two enchantments towards my suit sets on each item. The boots where to be muffle and fortify sneak.
Maybe I'll just look a few more hours while shopping for other things then give up on the suit. It was only to mostly have it in my collection for the odd stealth job that didn't contradict my characters ethics at least. I have a dozen suits and countless weapons in my armory with a theme or purpose by design and only a couple suits that are stealth related. I can just go for this on a more dedicated stealth character.

I always get a pair from Balgruf when he speaks to the guard who ran from the watchtower, and he rewards you for finding the dragonstone with a random enchanted armor piece. I place my character far enough to where Balgruff needs to start walking towards me to speak to me and then quickly back out of the conversation so that I can quicksave just before he gives me the armor, and sends to send me to fight the first dragon with Irileth and reload until I have the boots. *You must be at least level 11 before returning with the Dragonstone.* I also recommend a hardsave before he begins walking towards you, just in case your quicksave wasn't properly timed.

That will be more helpful for future characters. Thanks. My melee warrior is at mid 50s now and that quest is long behind me.

I had to edit my response, because I forgot to add a *tiny* slightly important detail.
At level 50, it is still technically possible to find them if you're patient enough. What system do you have? You can try to restock merchants by punching them, or create them using the atronach forge. I would like to mention that they are definitely worth having because all of the Muffle Boots that you find already enchanted have an enchantment magnitude effect, but the ones you create after disenchanting a pair are 1.0 magnitude so you're fully silent.

So... though I have games on steam and I use that to justify my coming for help on the steam forums I am currently playing the anniversary edition on the switch. It has all dlc's and all the creation club stuff. But I have no command console or access to mods...

If you like hunting, then Hunterborn (recommended with Hunterborn MCM) comes with it's own Scrimshaw system. Once your survival skills go up a bit (in my case: it was character level 3 or 4, but I did a lot of hunting) you get to craft Smoothed Bone Ring, which comes with a Muffle spell.

This would be only such enchantment (AFAIK) that does not target shoes.

Edit: Added a picture.
