It just adds a bunch of Creation Club content (a.k.a Paid Mods with ♥♥♥♥ quality that have free, better alternatives on Nexus).
It doesn't change the game version or anything else.
Just make sure you select the correct version when a mod supports multiple versions.
In case of Steam, the latest version is 1.6.640.
Unless the mod uses a "NG" plugin - those work on all verions.
You only need to have the requirements for the mod, so unless a mod requires a specific CC mod, you don't need any CC mods, let alone AE...
Just make sure the version of the game matches what the mod says.
And in case you think I'm bashing AE, I own AE and enjoy the CC mods.
Granted, the CC survival mode isn't that bad, but it just isn't as deep as, say, Frostfall.
Or the "pets". They're implemented extremely poorly - just dotted around dungeons or camps with a key somewhere. No effort, nothing. There's several mods on Nexus that add pets. Maybe not as many varieties as the CC mod, but higher quality.
I don't mean buy the pack I mean if you are on game version 1.6 and above it is tagged as AE so if you want to download something like SKSE you'll need to download the AE version.
