(spoilers) what changes after the civil war quest on both sides?
Like does the other side get hostile or any other repercussions? I know a jarl dies or something on the opposing side but do other NPCs die or I lose out on some quests? I just want to know before I dive into the civil war questline

Stormcloaks/Imperials get hostile if you walk into on of their camps (Depending on who you sided with), and some Jarls are replaced, and that's pretty much it.

You can still do all of the quests associated with a town/hold, it really doesn't matter who the Jarl is.

Whiterun has some damage, Jarls get replaced and the old Jarls and their stewards are either in Solitude or Windhelm. Oh and they hold a grudge.

There is also some minor changes across the map depending on who you sided with, one i can remember right now is if you side with the stormcloaks in the road near Orphan Rock you will encounter a khajit caravan ambushed by 5-6 bandits since Ulfric wont lift a finger to protect foreigners, but if you side with the imperials that very same spot will be a "safe" road with no bandits waiting in ambush

Hold guards in some holds are replaced with imperial/stormcloak guards and the same holds have had their jarls replaced.

Whiterun and either solitude or windhelm have some minor damage done to them.

If you walk in to a camp belonging to the losing side in the wild they will attack you on sight and tandom patrolls of the opposite side attack you on sight. (Not sure if the patrols stop after the war)

Thats it.

EDIT: Oh yea, some forts change from bandits/mages to whatever faction you sided with.

Literally nothing, except you see the forts ingame being occupied by the winning side and towns that had stormcloak will now have imperial guards vice versa, ppl ingame will still act and talk like the civil war is still going on and ulfirc or general tulius is still alive.

If you want more content for the civilwar and the side you chose, I recommend the second great war, which has the thalmor invading skyrim after you complete the civil war quests, You can choose to even side with the thalmor if that is how u want to go or if thats what ur rping, really great mod, fully voice acted, feels like official story content, doesn't change anything only adds and the quests only initiate after you fully complete the civil war on either side.

Also there is a mod that will slowly rebuild the towns that got damaged in the civil war(this has a patch for the second great war which will make towns rebuild only after second great war completion) and remove the debris from it, will start after civil war completion in 20ingame days, without this they will stay damaged forever.

Also, Skyrim se reputation will help the unnimmersive treatment by npc towards your civil war hero, or whatever you choose to be.

ALSO the civil war aftermath mod lets you do what the game literallly tells you to do after you complete the civil war "if you see (losing side) kill every one of them and burn their camps", Without this you cannot get rid of losing side camps or kill the essential npcs at them.

All of the mods are compatible/have patches and have SSE/oldrim versions.

If you join neither the Imperials nor the Stormcloaks, Whiterun is never invaded/damaged and both side's camps will trade with you giving you sales outposts and crafting stations all over Skyrim.

The forts around the area continue to populate with bandits you can clean out or ignore and the Khajit caravan never gets murdered.

It's simple. War benefits politicians, not the people.

If the Dragonborn refuses to join a side, the civilians don't get hurt.

The only true enemy of Skyrim are the Thalmor who are stirring up the war by creating religious division and fear among both sides.

You don't have to join either side. But whatever you do, the Thalmor are the enemy.

Free Skyrim. Kill all Thalmor!

I completed the civil war because I wanted that old guy on the market steps at Whiterun to shut up about it, but noooo. Most pointless quest line ever.

Some supporters for one side or the other will have their disposition lowered to zero towards the Dragonborn once their ruler is dead. A handful of civilians are killed in the major battles (Severio Pelagia, for example) and others (Heimskr) will be imprisoned.

Just kill him? Or side with the Imperials, then they will throw him in jail under the keep.

One has to make sure that one warns Heimskr that he can be arrested for his preaching the good word of Talos before he is taken away. Literally, one's words of caution bring doom upon him.
