While that did remove all shadows, it also made the game very dark (especially in interiors).
I think it also turned off all lights emitted by candles and torches and whatnot.
That screen would not be what i consider dark but you can now try and fiddle around with skyrims brightness and gamma settings or do the same through your gpu driver until you have found something that works for you.
Do you know if there's some mod or whatever to change this?
Huh that's actually a good idea. I'm gonna try that when I get home from work today.
Thanks!
I don't think there's anything to be done, so I guess I'll just live with it for now since I really like the game.
I'm running the game on a rather old laptop, so every bit of performance is important to keep the game stable.
The shadows also look kinda bad since they're fairly low res (especially on characters), and walking around the game world and seeing them "pop-up" when I move my camera is an eyesore. I'd rather not have them at all.
Oldrim and Oblivion had an ini setting to disable shadows on characters but i can't find it for SSE. So i'm not sure it exists anymore.
Also you can mess around with fShadowBiasScale in SkyrimPrefs. Default is 1 where higher values will reduce the surface area on which shadows are drawn. Doesn't seem to make the game darker as well though i'm not certain this will also help with fps.
Actually here is a screenshot series to show the effect:

Turning off the shadow distance outside while keeping the inside ones on was a *genius* idea, man. It worked perfectly, the only downside is that loading screens are dark af lol.
Thanks!
