Help, stuck in Potema's refuge / sanctum / catacombs
So I got the bright idea to get my level 22 melee weapon/mage butt in the quest 'The Wolf Queen awakens'. Bad idea, because I can't really beat Draugr deathlords yet. (Was I supposed to know that beforehand?)

So I got myself to Potema's Sanctum and managed to kill most draugrs and vampires. But that last one is the deathlord and he's been kicking my butt all night. I'm all out of health potions and food, and while I can do a fast healing spell, that means I can't deal enough damage with my warhammer to actually beat this guy.

So basically, I want to run away. However, I can't get through the turning doors anymore in Potema's Refuge! All the posts I can find say that there's a shortcut behind Potema's throne, but without beating him (and Potema), I can't get there.

Then my loaded games seem to have a glitch, because I've got like 4 saves within these catacombs (after the turning doors), but beyond that I just have the first 5 loaded games - so level 1/2, at the most.

Dear god don't tell me I either have to go 20 levels back or I'm stuck here forever. Both will put me off this game, I'm serious. HELP.

I rarely use followers these days (except I'm kind of stuck with Serena, or whatever the vampire's name is), so I'll use her until her quest stuff is done. But by not using a follower, I've found that I don't run the risk of killing a follower, and when I go nuts with fireball, I GO NUTS.

Honestly i haven't figured out yet how to use scrolls :')
Just a thought. Sorry if you already know this. But don't just save using F5. It's always a good idea to do some regular manual saves. The problem with F5 and auto save is that each new save over-rides the last one.

It's a possibility that's why you ended up with no saves after you ended the dungeon.

Thanks! I usually quicksave, but not sure if that overrides.

Next time you're not in game and are about to load it up instead of clicking "continue" click "Load". Long Shot but there may be more saves there.

Unfortunately they weren't. No idea what went wrong with the saved games. I ended up using god mode just to get past the deathlord. Going to be a bit more careful from now on.. (And find a new follower).
Congrats.
I had to laugh at "And find a new follower", good idea.

have fun

Hahah they haven't offered themselves to me yet! I did manage to adopt two kids though.

Here's just a few in Skyrim

There are some followers in Whiterun, Jenassa (spelling) tough, Aela the Huntress (Archer) and others
There's Faendal (spelling) in Riverwood (Archer)
There's a few in Riften; Marcurio in the Bee and Barb, Mjoll the Lioness
College of Winterhold; J'zargo and others (mage)
Solitude; Jordis the Sword-Maiden Housecarl

oh and of course Serana in the Dawnguard questline (loves necro)

All the above are decent to say the least.

As long as you don't go for Argis the big girl's blouse in Markarth. People go on about Lydia being bad but this one is uniformly rubbish at everything and terminally miserable to boot :D
