How do I clean my mods?

I crashed in Bleak Falls Barrow! Finally decided to check out xedit and found 42 conflicting mods! Most of the mods have red text, while some mods have orange and yellow text! I'm not entirely sure what to do, so some help would be very much appreciated!

Is there something else that I'm missing? I'm not so sure why my game keeps crashing to be honest!

Generally, I don't think esp conflicts will cause crashing (may be some fringe cases where it can happen). That is more likely to be caused by scripts, SKSE mods, or corrupted nifs.

I suspect using xedit to correct your load order will make a big difference by itself.

If you are serious about correcting and then patching your load order with xedit, The Method linked in reply #1 is the way to do it.

"Cleaning" your mods in the sense of using quick autoclean is mostly not needed and frequently could have unintended/bad consequences.

For some more information on load ordering, patching, and actually using xedit here are two links from the pinned topic "Helpful Links and References". They really are the best information available for this sort of thing. Any shorter explanations are likely to gloss over important details.

Conflicts are common. Most modded games have plenty of conflicting records. That is what the load order is for.

Record loaded last (high priority, meaning toward the end of load order) will win those conflicts. Patches and merged leveled lists exist, because sometimes records need to be parsed between mods for them to work correctly.

Look reasons for crashing from scripts or broken meshes, If crash is just occasional and random then go on; game does that every now and then.

I (try to) follow The Method but I don't recommend it for most people

I honestly can't tell! It seems to happen every time I'm partway through a dungeon! I fear if I pick up from where I left off, it'll just crash again

Also, I should point out, whenever a rabbit dies it keeps running in place! I just sort of went on my day because it felt like a nothing problem

It's heavy on script mods, so it will crash more often, especially if you're low on RAM. By the way, what are your specs?

Apparently some other people were talking about it to, saying that Zaz 8.0+ was the culprit!
