Legacy of the Dragonborn: Archaeology not working?
Hello all, I'm currently running a modded version of SSE, and am having trouble with the archaeology. I activate the fragment workbench but no pop-up/inventory window appears. My character sits there for a moment with the camera zoomed out and then it cuts back to the usual first person FOV. I noticed the same thing happening when I attempt to use the oven in the safehouse.
Anyone have any idea why it may not be working? Is it a script error or does it have to do to MCM? I am running a handful of mods with this, and will supply a list of that if it's needed.

Best to post your sorted load order, as it sounds like a mod may be overwriting LOTD, and thus preventing the script from running. To post your load order, just click on the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner of the LOOT screen, click on copy load order from the drop-down menu, and then paste in the reply box here. In the newest version of LOOT, in the top left hand corner under Game, choose Copy Load order.

For Vortex users, Vortex keeps a .txt version of your mod load order here:
C:\Users\[your name]\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition\loadorder.txt
Find it and then copy and paste it here.

I removed all the mods in that list which I have, and which do not produce any conflicts - which leaves these:
RaceCompatibility.esm
Less Tedious Thieves Guild.esp
Cutting Room Floor.esp
COR_AllRace.esp
TGDQFTGG.esp
More Lore-Friendly Soul Gems.esp
RaceCompatibilityUSKPOverride.esp
TLDR_PainintheNecklace.esp

COR SV Beards.esp

CWneutral.esp

Though the mods I removed from the list do not produce conflicts in my game, it should be pointed out that I heavily edit my build to ensure that there are no conflicts, so it is still possible (even though unlikely) that one of those I removed is an issue - but at least this provides a starting place.

Unless someone spots something, you may still need to troubleshoot the build yourself, but given the relatively small size of your build, it should not be that difficult to do. I would suggest that you follow this general guide on troubleshooting - though you may wish to wait a bit before doing so, just in case someone else sees something.

You are missing a lot of patches for LOTD. You will find them here...

yea I see none of the patches ... as said above most mods need patches. To give an indication I have almost 80 patches running for LOTD.

To name a few: Wyrmstooth, forgotten city, alternate start, etc

Ah, I didn't realize that, haha! Alright I have them now, thank you. So far it hasn't changed the situation, but I am starting a save from the beginning to see if it has any changes.

With the patches installed and on a new save, it's working so far. If anything breaks though I will for sure do some troubleshooting this way. Thank you for your help!

That is fantastic news, Ninjastar! Glad that you got it fixed - enjoy!

You can try using Load Order Optimisation Tool (LOOT) to figure out potential errors. Usually catches many patches that are required. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1918

LOOT should only be used for sorting the load order - and even then, the larger the build the less reliable it is, until for extremely large builds (anything over the plugin limit, basically - 250+ plugins - and that includes .esl files). As to other aspects of LOOT, there is this:
As regards LOOT, much of what it says should be taken with a very large grain of salt - it is a sorting tool, not a diagnostic. With regard to patches, use what it says to check for yourself. And as for cleaning, unless the mod's author says it is okay to clean their mod, do not clean it, regardless of what LOOT may say - and DO NOT clean the Master files or any CC content.

See:
LOOT Advisory Re: Cleaning Mods
https://steamcommunity.com/app/489830/discussions/0/1693795812306776189/
(from PINNED TOPIC Helpful Links and References, Section 3, Tools, Load Order, and Mod Cleaning)

As regards the Masters and CC content:
Do not clean the Masters or CC content. There have been issues where using auto clean has resulted in sections of worldspace not appearing in game - and despite it being said that it has been fixed, the risks are not worth it.
And it is not just myself recommending against cleaning. There is also this, from Arthmoor:
"Personally my advice would be to just ignore cleaning the official master files at this stage of things. xEdit has had a number of recent bugs filed due to issues with old form versions and file data in these plugins which have caused serious errors during gameplay and have resulted in several hackish workarounds being added to xEdit to account for these things."

On 12/3/2021 at 6:53 AM, Wasarion said:
So why would all the mod authors that made the cc-mods in the AE bundle release them not cleaned? Loot say 40 of them are dirty.
And Arthmoor replied:
"Because those are not mods, they are official DLC, and 3rd party utilities are not permitted for use when you are a contract employee for the company.

IMO they should be treated as such and not cleaned as a general rule."

That is good advice on not needlessly cleaning mods. LOOT primary function is load order but secondary functions include requirements and incompatibilities, along with providing links to potential resolutions. From the looks of NinjaStar107 load order he would be provided patch links for LOTD (which solved it), wyrmstooth, Moonpath, Forgotten City, Cutting Room Floor (CRF), Racemenu, and at least Alt Start with just run iteration of LOOT.

Also ESL files do not count to the 250 plugin limit. ESL or Light plugins are pretty much infinite and are only limited on system hardware. I currently have 955 plugins of which 755 are esl files.

Also there are a few other patches for LoTD I would suggest. For example:

Legacy of the Dragonborn - Creation Club Patch Hub
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/31563

Legacy of the Dragonborn - Fixes and Tweaks
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/58517

Legacy of The Dragonborn - Museum Exterior Fixes
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/47321

Complete Replica Fixes for Legacy of the Dragonborn
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/46575
Misc - The Missing Apprentices removes the original Borvir's Dagger, Rundi's Dagger, Ilas-Tei's Ring and Yisra's Necklace. Their replicas can now be displayed as well, for completion's sake.

As others have said Loot and/or Vortex (which includes Loot) is great for it's messages informing you of any patches you might be missing, also for any incompatibilities you may have in your load order.
